OHIO The Pro Football Hall of Fame , located in Canton, is planning an extensive renovation project. The project includes a newly designed entrance and orientation area, expansion of the retail store, an indoor event space addition, and upgrades to the mechanical and HVAC systems. CALIFORNIA The U.S. Dept. of General Services has selected BNIM and Gensler to provide lead architectural and engineering services for the modernization of the Edward J. Schwartz Federal Building & U.S. Courthouse , located at 880 Front St. in San Diego. The project entails alterations to make the six-story, 178,713-sq-ft building more energy efficient. The project includes fire sprinkler modifications and blast protection. The estimated construction cost is between $125 million and $155 million. MICHIGAN The Naval Facilities Engineering Command has awarded a $7.8- million firm-fixed-price contract to Hanke Constructors for construction of the Naval Operational Support Center training facility at Fort Custer, in Battle Creek. The project includes a new two-story assembly hall, classrooms, medical exam rooms, conference room storage, unit conference counseling, crew’s lounge, administrative areas, recruiting and parking. NEW YORK The New York State Thruway Authority has selected Berger Lehman Associates to provide construction inspection services for the rehabilitation of six bridges along Interstate 95 . OKLAHOMA Oklahoma City Water Utilities Trust has awarded a $45.6-million contract to Crossland Heavy Contractors, Inc. to build the Hefner Water Treatment Plant Expansion in Oklahoma City. The project entails the construction of two 130-ft-dia clarifiers, a recarbonation basin, a 24,720-sq-ft filter building housing 12 new filters, a 3,467-sq-ft filter backwash building, a 1,200-sq-ft carbon dioxide building and 2,780-sq-ft carbon dioxide storage facility. TENNESSEE Mitsubishi Electric Power Products has selected O’Neal, Inc. to build a manufacturing plant in the Rivergate Industrial Port in Memphis. The engineer-procure-construct project entails building a 350,000-sq-ft facility, which will produce power transformers and power components. Construction is expected to start in the fall of 2011 and the plant will commnce production in the spring of 2013. The estimated construction cost is $200 million. TEXAS The Texas Facilities Commission has selected Triangle Technology to provide construction materials testing for four new buildings at the Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired in Austin. The project includes a 28,500-sq-ft, two-story gymnasium; a 31,200-sq-ft elementary school; an 18,500-sq-ft operations and maintenance building with an attached 4,000-sq-ft warehouse; and a 400-sq-ft horticultural education building with a 30-ft by 84-ft prefabricated greenhouse.
