LOUISIANA The Monroe City Council has awarded a contract to Lincoln Builders for construction of a new airport terminal at Monroe Regional Airport. The one-story, 50,000-sq-ft structural-steel-frame building will accommodate up to five aircraft gates and also have space for retail concessions, security areas for the Transportation Security Administration, administrative offices and other facilities to accommodate airlines and related tenants. MASSACHUSETTSA Jacobs-Tetra Tech EC Joint Venture, a joint venture of Jacobs Engineering Group and Tetra Tech, was awarded a contract by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England District, for the total environmental restoration at the New Bedford Harbor Superfund site. The contract will include work associated with the dredging, treatment, transport and disposal of contaminated material in the upper harbor of the Acushnet River. The project is valued at $27 million and has an estimated completion date of May 2013. PENNSYLVANIAA Walsh Construction Co. was awarded a contract by the Dept. of Veterans Affairs for the construction of a new ambulatory care center for the VA Pittsburgh Health Care System. The new facility will be located at the VA’s H.J. Heinz III Division on Delafield Road. The two-story, 117,000-sq-ft building will have a one-story connector to an existing building. The center will provide primary care, physical rehabilitation, audiology, dental care and an outpatient pharmacy. Work also calls for the demolition of two buildings and the renovation of a community center, including asbestos-abatement services. TEXAS Broaddus + Muñoz, a joint venture of Broaddus & Associates and Kell Muñoz Architects, was selected as project manager by University Hospital System for its medical center expansion and renovation. The project will expand the existing campus at South Texas Medical Center in San Antonio. The expanded hospital will be a 2-million-sq-ft, 713-bed facility with a new trauma tower, an expanded emergency center, surgical suites and new in-patient rooms. Related work includes a new central plant and parking facilities. The project extends from 6th Ave. to East Marginal Way.
