Pereira
Railworks Corp., a New York City-based provider of track and transit systems construction and maintenance services, has appointed two unit presidents. Mark Patterson has been elevated to president of its transit systems subsidiary, L.K. Comstock National Transit Inc. He had been vice president of operations. Nuno Pereira joins Railworks as president of its subsidiary PNR RailWorks Inc., an Abbotsford, British Columbia-based firm that provides track, communications and transit system services to the country's rail industry. Most recently, he was vice president of roads and bridges at SNC-Lavalin, Montreal. Railworks is ranked at No. 85 on ENR's list of the Top 400 Contractors, with $684 million in 2012 revenue.

URS Corp., San Francisco, announces several top executive changes. The firm elevated W.J. "Bill" Lingard to the newly created position of executive vice president and chief operating officer. Now based in San Francisco, he was president of the firm's oil-and-gas division. Lingard also is the former president and CEO of Flint Energy Services Ltd., a Calgary, Alberta-based provider of construction services to the North American oil-and-gas market that URS acquired in 2012. He was in those top roles at Flint Energy since 2005. Lingard also becomes chairman of URS' management committee. Further, URS has promoted H. Thomas Hicks, currently vice president and chief financial officer, to executive vice president. He continues as CFO. Wayne Shaw, previously chief operating officer of URS' oil-and-gas division, is named president, replacing Lingard.

Michael J. Kotubey, former president of Kansas City-based MMC Contractors, has joined mechanical construction firm TD Industries, Dallas, as president. He is responsible for the firm's service and construction groups, representing about $130 million in annual revenue, says the company. Kotubey is a co-founder of the Lean Construction Institute, past president of the Mechanical Contractors Association in Kansas City and charter member of the Association of Energy Engineers. TD Industries ranks at No. 33 on ENR's list of the Top 600 Specialty Contractors, with $315.2 million in 2011 revenue.

Luke F. Lester, who holds an endowed professorship of electrical and computer engineering at the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, will join Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, as head of the Bradley Dept. of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the College of Engineering, effective on Aug. 10. He also served as interim chair of the University of New Mexico's electrical-computer engineering department since 2011. Lester is a fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers and the International Society for Optics and Photonics in 2013.

 

Alberti
Anntonette Alberti has joined Boston-based geotechnical engineer Haley & Aldrich as senior vice president of energy strategy. Now based in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., she had been a vice president at Tetra Tech in Albany, N.Y., where she led its $300-million electric-power initiative. Alberti also is interim executive director for the Alliance for Clean Energy New York. Diane Sullivan also joins Haley & Aldrich as a principal and vice president of energy development.

Anu Mahendra joins HOK as co-director of its structural engineering practice in Houston. The firm in May acquired Ingenium, a structural design firm of which Mahendra had been president. Eleven Ingenium employees have joined HOK.

Kevin Hom, founder and president of design firm Kevin Hom Architects, has been appointed dean of the New York City College of Technology (City Tech), a unit of The City University of New York. He had been interim dean since October 2011. With more than 16,000 students, City Tech is the largest public college of technology in New York state, says the school. Hom will continue to lead his architectural practice.

Black & Veatch, Overland Park, Kan., has named G. "Satya" Sathiamoorthy as managing director of its Mumbai, India-based unit. Formerly managing director of Italy's Tecnimont ICB group in Mumbai, he also is vice president of the International Project Management Association's Greater Mumbai chapter.
