Alabama Imperium Energy LLC is planning to build a materials recycling facility in Montgomery. The project entails constructing a building that will process at least 100,000 tons of municipal solid waste per year. It will employ equipment using both magnets and optical sorters; a portion of the material stream will be hand-sorted. Bulk Handling Systems has been retained by Imperium to design and build the recycling facility. Construction is expected to start in April 2013 and be completed in summer 2014. District of Columbia The Trump Organization is planning to convert the Old Post Office Pavilion into a luxury hotel that will have more than 250 rooms, restaurants and conference facilities. The 414,000-sq-ft Romanesque Revival-style edifice, built in 1899, is 10 stories tall (not including its 315-ft-tall clock tower) and currently houses a retail arcade. It is located at the intersection of 12th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue. The hotel will be designed by Beyer Blinder Belle. The project is valued at between $15 million and $50 million. Missouri The National Blues Museum is planning to open at 601 Washington Ave. in the Mercantile Exchange District of downtown St. Louis. The project entails renovating the 23,000-sq-ft ground floor of an existing mixed-use building; the renovation will include 16,000 sq ft of exhibit space, a classroom and a small theater. North Dakota The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has awarded a $12.9-million, firm-fixed-price contract to Construction Engineers Inc. to build a border patrol station in Pembina.
