2008 Best of Awards

Best of the Best Finalists

McGraw-Hill Construction is pleased to announce the finalists of its first annual Best of the Best Awards. The competition recognizes the construction and design excellence of the past year from across the U.S., drawing entries from the regional winners of McGraw-Hill Construction’s network of 11 Regional Publications.

The winners will be announced by publication in the March 2009 issues of all 11 Regional Publications, as well as in Engineering News-Record.

More than 225 projects from across the country were considered in 22 categories, ranging from best green building to best transportation project.

An independent 13-member jury of owners, designers, contractors and educators from various regions was assembled to judge the projects based on a variety of criteria including innovation, contribution to the community, aesthetic quality and workmanship.

“The judges for our inaugural national awards were very impressed by the caliber of projects that were competing,” says Scott Blair, senior editor with Southwest Contractor and one of the organizers of the awards. “It’s important for our industry to celebrate the many positive achievements that were accomplished in 2008, especially during the current economic times.”
