CALIFORNIA Richard Meier and Partners was selected to design 9900 Wilshire, a proposed luxury condominium project located on the former site of the Robinson-May department store in Beverly Hills. CALIFORNIA Tower General Contractors is the contractor selected to renovate the historic LAX Theme Building at Los Angeles International Airport. The renovations include several elements, which consist of structurally reinforcing the steel arches and replacing the exterior surface along with four arches of the building. The work also will include the seismic retrofit of the 28-ft-high plaza-level screen wall with carbon-polymer-fiber wrap. FLORIDA A new 950-space parking garage complex is being built by James A. Cummings Inc. on the Gainesville campus of the University of Florida. ILLINOIS Work is under way on the Wastewater Treatment Facilities Improvements Phase II project for the Village of Plainfield. Allan Mack & Sons is the contractor for this project, which, when completed in January 2010, will increase wastewater-treatment capacity from 4.3-million gallons per day to 7.5-mgd. NORTH CAROLINA An $181.8-million contract was awarded to the Caddell/Yates Joint Venture by the Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Mid-Atlantic, for the design and construction of the Wallace Creek Regimental Complex located at the Marine Corps’ Camp Lejeune. The work provides for a new, four-battalion regimental complex in conjunction with the Grow the Force initiative.
