COLORADO Thornton-Tomasetti PC has been selected by Vestas Americas A/S as the structural engineer involved in planning a new steel wind tower manufacturing plant to be located on Lime Rd., south of Pueblo. The estimated $240-million project includes a new facility to manufacture the steel towers that support the wind turbines. LOUISIANA Gulf Interstate Engineering Co. has been selected by Regency Energy Partners to provide engineering, design and procurement services for three compressor stations, Cane Hill, Woodardville and Elm Grove in northern Louisiana. This project is part of the Haynesville Project, which will add 204 miles of pipeline ranging in diameter from 24 in. to 42 in. and have 49,000 hp of compression. NEW JERSEY K. Johnson Enterprises LLC has announced plans to build the Team 85 Health Center to be located at 122 U.S. Highway 130 in Bordentown. The estimated $35-million project consists of five buildings with total floor area of 212,000 sq ft to accommodate a medical center, office building, fitness center with a training facility, and a 3,000-sq-ft pad for a bank. NEW JERSEY-NEW YORK New Jersey Transit has awarded a contract to a joint venture of Jacobs Engineering Group Inc., Gannett Fleming Transit & Rail Systems and HNTB Corp. to provide design services for the Portal Bridge Capacity Enhancement Project. The project involves replacing a 98-year-old, two-track railroad swing bridge that crosses the Hacksensack River carrying Amtrak and New Jersey Transit Northeast Corridor train service, North Jersey Coast Line and Midtown Direct commuter service to Penn Station in New York City. The existing two-track bridge will be replaced with two bridges on either side carrying a total of five tracks. The total construction value for this project is $1.3-billion, with construction completion and service scheduled to start in 2017. Jacobs Engineering Group Inc., 1111 S. NEW YORK Hines Development has selected Foster and Partners to provide design services for the Shangri-La Hotel and Condominium at 610 Lexington Ave. in New York City. The proposed project include a 61-story, 250,000-sq-ft building with 107 condominiums and 50 condominium-hotel units. PENNSYLVANIA The Pennsylvania Dept. of Transportation has awarded a contract to TranSystems to provide right-of-way consulting services for a bridge- replacement project located near the Borough of Polk. The project involves the partial acquisition of land from seven properties in order to replace a steel- stringer, timber-deck bridge with a concrete box beam bridge located along SR 3015. TEXAS Koontz McCombs has begun preliminary planning for a new condominium project on the Texas Gulf Coast called The Palmilla at Port Aransas. Situated on 30 acres on Mustang Island, the project will consist of 94 units ranging in size from 1,600 sq ft to 3,000 sq ft. In addition to the condominiums, this project will include one mile of bulkhead walkway with floating hardwood boat docks.
