Florida Goldberg Companies Inc. is planning to build Callawalk Acres Apartments in Davenport. The development will include 15 three-story residential buildings containing 318 units and a clubhouse on a 35.5-acre site. It is being designed by Slocum Platts Architects. The project is valued at between $15 million and $25 million. Goldberg Companies Inc., Attn: Larry Goldberg, Owner, 25101 Chagrin Blvd., Beachwood, Ohio, 44122. DR#14-00407483.

South Carolina The City of Charleston is planning to build the International African American Museum, on a 1.23-acre site adjacent to the former site of Gadsden's Wharf, which was built in 1767, and where slave ships from Africa unloaded. The multi-story, 43,500-sq-ft building will include a roof garden. The museum is being designed by Moody Nolan Inc. The project is valued at $75 million. Contact owner's agent: Rhodes Dahl LLC, Attn: Tom Lodge, Project Manager, 180 E. Bay St., Charleston, 29401. DR#02-00862170.

South Dakota Dream Design International and Premier Properties are jointly planning to build Presidents Plaza in Rapid City. The mixed-use project will feature a 15-story structure containing a 100-room hotel, condos, offices, a conference center, and a 500-space parking garage, at the intersection of Sixth St. and St. Joseph St. The project is valued at between $25 million and $50 million. Dream Design International, Inc., Attn: Hani Shafai, Project Manager, 528 Kansas City St., Rapid City, 57701. DR#13-00641664.

Utah The Union Pacific Railroad is proposing to rebuild portions of a 20-mile long causeway across the Great Salt Lake. The causeway, originally built in the 1950s, separates the lake into two sections, which over time have developed differing salt levels, as the southern section gets flushed by inflows from the Jordan, Weber and Bear Rivers. The project entails constructing a 180-ft-long bridge to allow more bidirectional water flow, and replacing two existing culverts. These proposed changes will impact the brine shrimp industry, the salt-harvesting industry, and the value of the lake as a major bird habitat, so they will require approval by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The project is valued at $100 million. Union Pacific Railroad, Engineering Dept., Attn: Bob Hennessey, Project Manager, 5500 Ferguson Dr., Commerce, Calif., 90022. DR#13-00406375.
