Colorado Hines, a developer, is planning to build 1144 Fifteenth, a 40-story, mixed-use tower in Denver. The top 27 floors of the 640,000-sq-ft building will be dedicated to office space, and the bottom 13 floors will be a podium containing retail, a fitness center and an 880-space parking garage. Pickard Chilton is the designer. Construction is expected to start in May 2015 and be completed by May 2017. The project's value has been estimated at $64 million. Louisiana German Pellets LLC is planning to build a wood-pellet plant in Urania, on the former site of a Georgia-Pacific plywood-particleboard plant. New YOrk Cornell University is preparing to build its new Cornell Tech campus on New York City's Roosevelt Island. One first-phase element will be a 26-story residential tower at 900 Main St., to house 500 students and faculty members. Handel Architects LLP is the designer. South Carolina East West Partners is planning to build a fourth condominium tower at Tides, a residential community adjacent to the Ravenel Bridge on the Charleston Harbor waterfront in Mount Pleasant. Tennessee The Scenic Land Co. is planning Hillocks Farms, a mixed-use development on a 190-acre site at the intersection of Highway 153 and Boy Scout Road in Hixson. Missouri The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has awarded a $47.8-million firm-fixed-price contract to MW Builders Inc. to build a barracks, a company operations facility and a common cooling tower with a support facility at Fort Leonard Wood. The project includes a five-story, 186,000-sq-ft building, the 800-sq-ft common cooling tower, a quarter-mile running track and four 11,250-sq-ft physical-training pits. Oregon 8/26 Lease Crutcher Lewis, the general contractor, is seeking subcontractor bidders to expand and renovate the University of Oregon's Erb Memorial Union. The project entails a 150,000-sq-ft expansion and renovation of the existing 223,000-sq-ft building. While a significant portion of the existing building will undergo renovation, other portions may be torn down and replaced. Major functions likely to be incorporated into the building include kitchen and dining facilities, lounge and study facilities, offices, meeting and conference rooms, ballroom spaces and a concert hall.
