California The Shipyard Communities, a partnership led by Lennar Urban, is planning to build an artists studio building on Horn Avenue in San Francisco as part of the redevelopment of the former Hunters Point Naval Shipyard. The project entails the construction of a six-story building containing 125 artist studio spaces and includes the demolition of Building 110, which currently is being used as artist studios. The new building also will contain a kiln room, a spray room and sound-proofed spaces for musicians. The project is valued at $28 million. Lennar Urban, One California St., San Francisco, 94111. Colorado Continuum Partners is planning to build a Kimpton Hotel at 16th Street and Wewatta Street, adjacent to Union Station, in Denver. The 12-story building will contain 200 rooms. North Carolina Spectrum Properties is planning to build and manage a 25-story office building at 300 S. Tryon St. in Charlotte. The 632,835-sq-ft building in the Uptown neighborhood will have Babson Capital Management as a tenant as well as 22,685 sq ft of retail space. Cornerstone Real Estate Advisors owns the property and will oversee development. The project's value has been estimated at between $25 million and $50 million. Ohio The City of Cleveland is planning to build the Morgan West Reservoir. Following construction of the new East Reservoir, the 20-million-gallon cell of the existing reservoir will be demolished. Then, the Morgan West Reservoir will be built within the footprint of the demolished reservoir. Temporary and permanent underground conduits and yard piping will be constructed to maintain plant operations during construction. It is being designed by MWH Americas Inc. Arizona SBBI Inc. has started work on the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest Three Forks road improvement project. The project includes paving over the existing graded surface of 17 miles of Federal Highway 249 in Apache County. The project will bring a gravel roadway up to a higher standard with a paved surface from end to end. It will start at the intersection of Arizona state Road 272 and proceed easterly to U.S. 191, about two miles north of the town of Alpine. The project's value has been estimated at $12.6 million. Minnesota CBS Construction Services Inc. has started building the Wooddale Flats condo complex in Saint Louis Park. It will include six buildings, containing 33 units and encompassing 93,638 sq ft. It is being developed by Gatehouse Properties Ltd. and Oppidan Investment Co. The project is valued at between $5 million and $10 million. New Jersey The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has awarded a $17.7-million contract to Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Co. for the first phase of the Port Monmouth flood-control project. The first phase includes dune restoration, beach replenishment, extension of the fishing pier and construction of 2,640 ft of protective dunes, which entails bringing in 380,000 cu yd of sand to extend the beach out by 200 ft. Mississippi 7/11 The Mississippi State Port Authority is seeking bidders to build the West Pier Facility in Gulfport. The project entails constructing three pile-supported structural-steel frame buildings, totaling 363,925 sq ft and including an administration building, maintenance and repair facilities, and three security-gate structures. Idaho 7/15 Hoffman Construction Co. of Oregon is seeking subcontractor bidders to build the University of Idaho Research & Innovation Center on the campus in Moscow. The project entails building a three-story, 53,000-sq-ft building to house a new collaborative research facility. It was designed by NBBJ. The project has been valued at $35 million. Washington 7/16 The Washington State Dept. of Transportation is seeking bidders to replace the Montlake– Evergreen Point Bridge. The project involves removing the existing concrete-and-steel bridges, widening and extending the existing concrete bridges, constructing a prestressed-concrete girder bridge, and removing the former Museum of History and Industry building.
