California Workday Inc., a software company, is planning to build an office building and parking garage in Pleasanton. The six-story, 430,000-sq-ft building will house 2,100 employees. The project also includes a five-story parking garage. Form 4 Architecture is the designer. The project has been valued at between $50 million and $70 million. Florida Simon Property Group Inc. is in the planning stages of an expansion for the Colonnade Outlets at the Sawgrass Mills mall in Sunrise. It plans to add three buildings, totaling 81,705 sq ft, which will contain retailers, restaurants and public restrooms. The project is valued at $8 million. Simon Property Group Inc., 225 W. Missouri NorthPoint Development is planning to convert the Kansas City Power & Light Building into apartments. The 36-story Art Deco skyscraper, built in 1931, has not been fully occupied since the utility moved out in 1991. Located at 14th Street and Baltimore Avenue, it was Missouri's tallest building for four decades. Of the 200 finished apartments, 20 will be located in the six-story lantern tower and have outdoor terraces. It also will include a rooftop pool on top of a next-door, 465-space parking garage. South Carolina The Keer Group has picked Moss & Associates as the design-builder of a textile manufacturing facility in Fort Mill. The 229,400-sq-ft building will make industrial cotton yarn. Colorado GBBH, a joint venture of Graham Contracting Ltd., Balfour Beatty Rail Inc., Hamon Contractors Inc., Stantec and Parsons Brinckerhoff Inc., has started constructing the North Metro Rail Line, a component of the FasTracks program. The project entails building an 18.5-mile-long electric commuter-rail line from Denver's Union Station through Commerce City, Thornton and Northglenn to 124th Avenue. Maryland Morgan-Keller Inc. has started building the Magnolia Center nursing home in Lanham. The project entails the construction of a 130-bed, four-story, 72,600-sq-ft building, which will contain nursing stations, day rooms, dining rooms, therapy space, administrative offices, a central kitchen and staff support spaces. Magnolia Gardens Real Estate LLC is the owner, the Sachuest Group is the developer, and CR Goodman Associates LLC is the architect. The project has been valued at between $5 million and $10 million. Texas 5/8 The City of Laredo is seeking bidders to construct the Sombreretillo Wastewater Treatment Plant. The project entails building a 1.75-million-gallon-per-day activated sludge plant, with an influent lift station, force main, clarifiers, an operation-and-control building and a chlorine building. District of Columbia 5/14 The District of Columbia Water and Sewer Authority is requesting qualifications for design-build services from firms interested in delivering a new headquarters building. The four- or five-story, 180,000-sq-ft building will be located over the O Street pumping station, which is adjacent to the Anacostia River. The project has been valued at $55 million. Arizona 5/23 The Arizona Dept. of Transportation is seeking design-build bidders for the Happy Valley Parkway project, located within the cities of Surprise and Peoria. The project entails widening state Route 303L, including earthwork, paving, sound walls and drainage improvements, from milepost 120.10 to milepost 125.18, excluding the El Mirage Road traffic intersection (milepost 123.28 to milepost 124.58).
