Texas Contour Entertainment Inc. is planning to build EarthQuest, a theme park on a 500-acre site in New Caney. The park will include several dozen attractions, including dinosaurs, a water park with a fake glacier, a hotel, restaurants, a conference center, a 40,000-sq-ft EarthQuest Institute and a parking garage. Virginia CyrusOne is planning to build a data center in Sterling. The project's first phase involves building a 124,000-sq-ft shell, which will contain 60,000 sq ft of raised floor space, 15,000 sq ft of office space and 12 MW of critical load. Louisiana Clark Construction Enterprises has started work on the West Bank Levee Back Levee drainage project in Plaquemines Parish. The project entails installation of new drainage structures; sliplining of existing drainage structures; clearing, grubbing and excavation of existing levee embankment to place structural geotextile; placement of new levee and berm-compacted fill; placement and installation of new highway embankment and pavement; and permanent relocation of water-line utilities. Missouri Arco Construction has started building an addition to The Fountains of West County assisted-living facility in Ellisville. The four-story, 60,000-sq-ft addition will contain 80 beds. North Carolina Chhabra Construction has been selected to build an Embassy Suites Hotel in Charlotte. The project entails the construction of a 10-story, 200,000-sq-ft building that will contain 250 rooms and below-grade parking. The developer is BPR-CMC Charlotte, a partnership between BPR Properties and CMC Hotels. The value of the project is $30 million. Oklahoma Cherokee Nation Construction Services has started building the Sam Hider Community Health Clinic in Jay. The single-story, 42,000- sq-ft building will contain primary-care offices and spaces for services, including dental, imaging, laboratory, eye care, pharmacy, medical records, diabetes, physical therapy, behavioral health and public-health nursing. Washington The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers currently is evaluating bidders seeking to build a multi-purpose machine-gun range on a 250-acre site at the Army's Yakima Training Center. The project entails the construction of a range operations-control area, a control tower, a classroom building, an operations- storage building, a bleacher enclosure, a latrine and an ammunition breakdown building. Colorado 4/14 The U.S. Olympic Museum is requesting architect qualifications and construction management-at-risk, general-contractor proposals for the U.S. Olympic Museum in Colorado Springs. The project entails designing and constructing a 60,000-sq-ft building comprising exhibit spaces for the Olympic and Paralympic movements, retail space, a restaurant, special-events space, administrative office space and an exterior plaza. Alaska 4/15 The Alaska Dept. of Transportation is seeking design-build bidders to carry out the Glenn Highway northbound-capacity improvement project in Anchorage. The project entails designing and building a new three-lane bridge crossing Eagle River, adding a third through-lane between the Hiland and Artillery road interchanges, and reducing the road grade between the Hiland interchange and the river.
