Georgia The PATH Foundation, in partnership with Livable Buckhead Inc., is planning to build PATH400, a 5.2-mile-long recreational trail winding through the North Buckhead, Peachtree Park and Lindmont LaVista neighborhoods of Atlanta. The paved path will vary from 10 ft to 14 ft in width and extend south from Loridans Drive to the Atlanta BeltLine's Peachtree Creek spur trail. The PATH Foundation, acting as construction manager, has chosen Whalen Construction as the general contractor for the trail's first phase, covering a half mile. The estimated construction cost of the first phase is $2 million, with the overall trail cost totaling $10 million. Indiana The Arc of Indiana, a nonprofit organization focusing on helping people with developmental disabilities, is planning to build a hotel in Muncie that will offer hospitality-industry training to its clients. The 150-room, six-story hotel will be located on High Street, between Victor and Seymour streets, near Muncie's Horizon Convention Center. A small number of its staff will be people with disabilities who are in job-training programs. The project has been valued at $20 million. Ohio Casto, a developer, is planning to convert the former Julian & Kokenge Co. factory building in Columbus to loft apartments. The six-story, 120,000-sq-ft building will be converted into one- and two-bedroom units and include indoor parking spaces on part of the first floor and all of the second floor. New Mexico Bradbury Stamm Construction Co. has started an addition and renovation project at the Chaves County Detention Center. The project consists of renovations and additions at both the Adult Detention Center at 3701 S. Atkinson Ave. and the Juvenile Detention Center at 119 E. Fourth St. in Roswell. The work includes demolition and cast-in-place concrete; installing insulated rolling doors, athletic rubber flooring, acoustic ceilings, and food-service and detention equipment; tiling, glazing, plumbing and electrical work. New York Monadnock Construction Inc. has started building the Compass Residences in the Bronx. The project comprises two 15-story apartment buildings, totaling 298,352 sq ft, at the intersection of East 172nd Street and Boone Avenue in the West Farms and Crotona Park East neighborhoods. The buildings will contain 237 low- and middle-income apartments and 112 parking spaces. The project owner is Industco Holding LLC. The buildings were designed by Richard Dattner & Partners. Texas Hill & Wilkinson Inc., the general contractor, has started demolition of an existing structure before building the Lincoln Knox residential tower in Dallas. The six-story, 250,000-sq-ft building will include 165 apartments, retail space, a club room and a fitness center. Construction is expected to be completed by September 2015. Idaho 3/18 The Idaho Division of Public Works is seeking bidders to carry out the renovation and expansion of the Idaho State Historical Museum in Boise. The project entails expanding to 39,875 sq ft the existing 28,075-sq-ft building and renovating 7,000 sq ft of the existing space. The project has been valued at $10 million. Utah 3/20 The Utah Dept. of Transportation is seeking bidders to replace the existing interchange at Bangerter Highway/state Route 154 and Redwood Road/state Route 68 in Bluffdale with a grade-separated interchange. Construction is expected to start in May 2014 and be completed by December 2014. The project valued at between $10 million and $15 million. California 4/1 The University of California Irvine is seeking bidders to carry out the Mesa Court expansion. The project entails the demolition of the existing Mesa Commons building and maintenance shop and the construction of a new 500-bed residence hall and Mesa Academic Center, totaling 150,577 sq ft.
