California The Torgan Group is planning to build the Pacific Mall Silicon Valley within the McCarthy Ranch Marketplace in Milpitas. The project includes a 260,000-sq-ft shopping center, which will house hundreds of Asian-themed businesses, a 240-room hotel and an 820-space underground parking garage. Montana Campus Suites, a developer, is planning to build the Stadium View Student Apartments on a nine-acre site on West Kagy Boulevard in Bozeman, near the Montana State University campus. The project team will construct seven three-story buildings, totaling 250,000 sq ft, to house 500 students. The project also includes a gym. New York WY Management LLC is planning to convert the former MetLife Financial Services building at 759 Palmer Rd. in Yonkers into a residential complex. The project entails converting the three-story, 138,000-sq-ft building into 61 loft-style apartments, with a two-level indoor parking garage, an indoor pool and a rooftop lounge. Tennessee Collins Construction is planning to build a 500,000-sq-ft warehouse in Portland. Collins is serving as both the developer and general contractor. Texas Charlan-Brock & Associates is planning to build the Whitestone Apartments in Austin. The project includes 24 three-story buildings, containing 340 apartments and a clubhouse. Wisconsin Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Co. is planning to build a new headquarters at 720 E. Wisconsin Ave. in Milwaukee. The 32-story, 1.14-million-sq-ft building will have 677,700 sq ft of office space atop a 436,300-sq-ft town center, which will include conference space, training centers, dining facilities and a fitness center. Construction is expected to start in August 2014 and be completed by August 2017. The project has been valued at between $350 million and $400 million. Delaware EDIS Co. has started to construct the Christiana Mall Cinemark theater in Newark. The 56,738-sq-ft building will contain 12 movie screens. The project owner is Cinemark USA Inc. Maine Wright Ryan Construction Inc. is converting the former Portland Press Herald building in downtown Portland into the Press Hotel. The hotel will consist of 102 rooms and extended-stay units, with a restaurant, indoor pool and fitness center. The project is valued at between $10 million and $15 million. Pennsylvania Mosites Construction Co. has started building a pair of bridges to carry state Route 0576 over U.S. Route 22, near Pittsburgh. The four-span multi-girder bridges will cross over state Routes 4004 and 0022 and existing ramps for the Southern Beltway. The project has been valued at $14.4 million. Arizona 2/24 The City of Chandler is seeking construction-management firms to manage the Queen Creek Road improvements. The project entails widening the roadway to six lanes. Washington 2/24 The Naval Facilities Engineering Command is seeking bidders to build the P-420 Integrated Water Treatment System at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton. The work will be carried out at dry docks Nos. 3 and 45. The work includes the installation of mid-dock booster pumps; placement of a berm around the dewatering grates; the addition of 52 sand traps, to minimize overflow risk; and installation of floor channels, to transport water to the sand traps. Nevada 2/25 The Clark County Water Reclamation District is seeking bidders to build the Paradise-Whitney sanitary-sewer interceptor. The project entails building 60-, 66- and 72-in.-dia gravity-sewer interceptors under Patrick, Pearl, Oquendo, Lamb, Hacienda and Nellis boulevards; 30- and 48-in.-dia gravity sewers under Flamingo Road; and installing 72- and 120-in.-dia manholes using open-cut and trenchless methods.
