Alaska The Alaska Dept. of Transportation & Public Facilities is planning to carry out transportation improvements in Selawik. The improvements include the rehabilitation of parts of the community boardwalk as well as two pedestrian bridges across the Selawik River, upgrades to the Barge Landing access road, and construction of a barge-landing staging area. Colorado Frontier Management LLC is planning to build The Lodge at Seven Lakes senior living campus in Loveland. The project includes a four-story, 124,000-sq-ft building, containing 61 independent-living units, 36 assisted-living units, 48 memory-care units, a dining room, a putting green and an outdoor fitness trail. It is being designed by LRS Architects, and Dohn Construction has been chosen as the general contractor. The project has been valued at between $25 million and $50 million. District of Columbia Safeway Inc. is planning to build the Tenleytown Safeway mixed-use development on a 2.5-acre site at 42nd and Davenport streets in the neighborhood of Tenleytown. The project includes the modernization of the existing ground-level grocery store and the addition of four stories, which will contain 220 rental apartments and 340 parking spaces. Florida Ramco-Gershenson Properties Trust is planning to build the Lakeland Park Center shopping mall in Lakeland. The first phase entails a 210,000-sq-ft building, designed by Wah Yee Associates. Anderson-Moore Construction Corp. has been selected as the general contractor. The estimated construction cost is between $25 million and $50 million. Kentucky The University of Kentucky is planning to build a dairy research and education center at Eastern Kentucky University's Meadowbrook Farm in Richmond. The project includes expanding the existing milking parlor and free-stall barn and constructing a tie-stall barn and a small research lab. The project has been valued at $10.3 million. Utah Holmes Homes Inc. is planning to construct the Harker's Landing townhome complex on a 14-acre site in West Valley City. Built out in six phases, the complex will comprise 138 units, each averaging 1,400 sq ft, a swimming pool and clubhouse. It will be designed by Think Architecture Inc. Alabama Bear Brothers Inc. has started building the School of Business riverfront building at Troy University in Phenix City. The job entails constructing a four-story, 47,000-sq-ft building. New York A joint venture of Schiavone Construction and Yonkers Contracting has been awarded a $101.6-million contract and started construction of the first phase of the Rondout-West Branch Bypass Tunnel. The first phase entails site preparation and sinking two 30-ft-dia shafts: a 900-ft-deep shaft in Newburgh and a 700-ft-deep shaft in Wappinger. The subsequent phase, which has not yet been awarded, will entail boring a 2.5-mile-long, 22-ft-dia tunnel, which will be 14.5 ft in dia after being lined. The bypass tunnel will allow the New York City Dept. of Environmental Protection to reroute water around a leaking section of the Delaware Aqueduct. Texas Cintra U.S. has been awarded a contract to carry out Segment 3A of the Interstate 35W reconstruction project in Fort Worth. The 6.5-mile stretch, from Interstate 30 north to its junction with Loop 820, will entail roadwork and new bridges. Segment 3A is valued at $990 million. Virginia Clark Builders Group has started building Station 650, a mixed-use development, in Alexandria's Potomac Yard neighborhood. The project consists of a five-story, 188,993-sq-ft building that will contain 183 apartments, 2,500 sq ft of retail space, a fitness center, a bicycle workshop and 239 parking spaces. Kansas 12/5 WaterOne District No. 1 of Johnson County is seeking bidders to carry out the Hedge Lane Pumping Station Reservoir project in Olathe. The project involves a 7.5-million-gallon, below-grade, cast-in-place concrete reservoir for the storage of potable water as well as a 30-mgd pumping station, expandable to 75 mgd and containing four adjustable, speed-driven horizontal split-case centrifugal pumping units. Arkansas 12/10 The City of Batesville is seeking bidders to build the Fitzhugh Park community center and aquatic park. The project entails constructing three buildings, totaling 100,000 sq ft and containing basketball and volleyball courts, a bath house and outdoor pools. California 12/12 The California Dept. of Transportation is seeking bidders to build HOV lanes on county Route 10 in Los Angeles County. The project entails constructing 4.1 miles of HOV lanes in Baldwin Park and West Covina, from Puente Avenue to Citrus Street; and widening bridges and realigning ramps. Indiana 12/12 Citizens Energy Group is planning to expand the capacity of the Southport Advanced Wastewater Treatment Plant in Indianapolis. The project team will build a new headworks facility, including a new tunnel-flow screening building, a grit-removal building. The project team also will convert the aerobic nitrification system clarifiers to south primary clarifiers as well as make modifications to the north primary clarifier pumping systems.
