District of Columbia American University is planning to build its new East Campus. The project will encompass six new buildings, totaling 340,000 sq ft and including three dormitories with 590 beds, three academic-administration buildings, and 345 parking spaces in underground and surface lots. Skanska USA Building Inc. has been selected as the construction manager. Construction is expected to begin in June 2014 and be completed by September 2016. Mississippi Ramco Development is planning to build the Gulf Coast Galleria shopping mall in D'Iberville. The project entails the construction of a 750,000-sq-ft mall sited at the intersection of Interstate 10 and Interstate 110. It is being designed by ka Inc. Architecture. Construction is expected to start in January 2014 and be completed by October 2014. The project has been valued at between $80 million and $100 million. Oregon Bridge Housing Corp. is planning to build the Abigail North Pearl Apartments, sited at the intersection of N.W. 13th Avenue and N.W. Raleigh Street in Portland's Pearl District. The project involves the construction of two six-story buildings, totaling 125,000 sq ft and containing 142 apartments as well as below-grade parking for 115 vehicles. Walsh Construction Co. has been selected as the general contractor, and construction is expected to begin in early 2014. The project's value has been estimated at $41.5 million. Texas Jefco Development Corp. is planning to build the Kingwood Parc City Center, a mixed-use project in Kingwood. The project entails a new town center, which will feature a main street that runs from U.S. Highway 59 to Loop 494 and includes retail shops, a grocery store, apartments, fountains, outdoor fireplaces and a 16-story office building. The various buildings will contain a total of 600,000 sq ft. The overall project has been valued at $100 million. Bids/Contracts/Proposals

Georgia McCarthy Building Cos., as construction manager, has started building the Humanities-Law Building at Georgia State University in Atlanta. The three-story, 200,000-sq-ft building will contain 55 faculty offices, 850 seats in tiered classrooms, a 150- to 200-seat multipurpose lecture hall, a 400-seat library, a 200-seat conference-and-event space, and space for four to five legal clinics. Illinois The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers currently is evaluating bidders seeking to carry out the Lockport Pool rehabilitation. The Lockport Pool is a three-mile-long stretch of the Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal, upstream of the Lockport Lock. The project entails removal, salvaging, processing and stockpiling of the existing stone retaining wall; excavation, stockpiling and processing of existing rock-fill embankment; construction of secant pile shoring wall; excavation, processing and stockpiling of existing bedrock; placement of dental concrete; placement of roller-compacted concrete for wall construction; installation of a seepage-control drainage system with perforated and solid PVC pipe and manholes; placement of portland cement concrete; construction of a maintenance garage and lower access road. Tennessee 11/19 The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is seeking bidders to rehabilitate the hydroelectric turbine-generator at the Center Hill Dam Powerhouse, located on the Caney Fork River in DeKalb County. The contractor will disassemble, rehabilitate and reassemble three turbine-generator units. The work will include the replacement of runners, wicket gates and the generator stator windings; refurbishment of servomotors and the unit brake system; restacking the existing generator iron; installing a vibration monitoring system and a high-pressure thrust-bearing oil-lift system. Massachusetts 11/26 The Massachusetts Dept. of Transportation's Highway Division is seeking bidders to replace the Raynham-Taunton bridge, which carries Route 24 over the Taunton River. Stretching 175 ft between abutments, the single-span structure will comprise galvanized steel-plate girders and a reinforced concrete deck, with three 12-ft lanes and a 12-ft acceleration-deceleration lane.
