Georgia North Star Renewable Power is planning to build a 23-MW renewable powerplant in Wadley. The plant will be fueled by woody biomass and shredded tires. Construction is expected to start before the end of 2013 and be completed in early 2015. Beijing Construction USA has been selected as the general contractor. Ohio Crosstex Energy is planning to build a third natural-gas compression and condensate stabilization facility in the Ohio River Valley. The facility will have a compression capacity of 100 million cu ft of gas per day and a condensate stabilization capacity of 5,000 barrels per day. The project has been valued at $25 million. Arkansas JE Dunn Construction Co. has started building the Mercy Orthopedic Hospital in Fort Smith. The project involves the construction of a two-story, 69,000-sq-ft building that will attach to the existing ambulatory surgery center. The orthopedic hospital will contain an outpatient rehabilitation clinic, a therapy pool, a pre-operative screening area, 18 patient rooms, a cafe, shell space for 12 additional beds and a chapel. California Lineage Logistics Holdings has started building a refrigerated warehouse on a 37.5-acre site at the intersection of Riverside Avenue and Agua Mansa Road in Colton. The 420,000-sq-ft building will have 130 loading-dock doors, 390 additional trailer parking positions, a refrigerated cross-dock area and 40,000 total pallet perishable positions. Connecticut Capstone Building Corp. is building the Jefferson Heights Senior Residences in New Britain. The project team will construct a 70-unit, three-story, 70,000-sq-ft building at 2380 Corbin Ave. Pennrose Properties is the developer. Pennsylvania The SEDA-COG Joint Rail Authority has awarded a $9.1-million contract to Glenn O. Hawbaker Inc. to rebuild the Loyalsock Creek Bridge, which is located between Montoursville and Williamsport. SEDA-COG is the Susquehanna Economic Development Authority-Council of Governments, a public development organization. The former 85-year-old bridge was demolished after it was damaged by flooding caused by Tropical Storm Lee in 2011. The project entails the construction of new east and west abutments; two new piers; the fabrication and construction of three new superstructure spans, totaling 474 ft; the realignment of an existing two-span deck-girder bridge, located west of the new bridge; and construction of 1,670 ft of additional track. Washington 7/18 The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is seeking bidders to carry out the Steamboat Slough setback levee and ecosystem restoration project at the Julia Butler Hansen Wildlife Refuge in Wahkiakum County. The project will consist of three phases. The first phase involves building a 4,900-ft setback levee between Winter Slough and the Columbia River. The second phase includes grading the site to create primary and secondary channels between the setback levee and the existing levee. Wooden habitat structures will be constructed within the excavated channels. In phase three, two sections of the existing levee, each 450 ft long, will be removed. Idaho 8/7 The Boise City Purchasing Office is seeking bidders to carry out the West Boise Wastewater Treatment Plant phosphorus-removal project. The project consists of primary clarifier rehabilitation, aeration basin influent modifications, waste-activated sludge-phosphate release tank, primary sludge fermentation basins, thickener building, and return activated sludge pump-station modifications. Construction is expected to start in September 2013 and be completed by May 2015. The project is valued at $22 million. Virginia 8/15 The Federal Highway Administration is seeking bidders to build the Interstate 564 Intermodal Connector in Norfolk. The project entails building 2.82 miles of four-lane, limited-access highway and a reconfigured commercial-vehicle inspection station for Naval Station Norfolk.
