Louisiana Cameron LNG, a subsidiary of Sempra Energy, is planning to convert its LNG import terminal in Hackberry into an LNG export terminal. The existing 260-acre terminal is located on the Calcasieu River, 15 miles south of Lake Charles. The project entails building three liquefaction trains, each with an export capacity of 4.5 million tons per year, or 13.5 mtpa overall. Sempra's partners are Mitsubishi Corp., Mitsui & Co. and GDF-Suez. Construction is expected to start in early 2014, with the first market deliveries of LNG expected by the second half of 2017; project completion is expected by 2018. Maryland PMC Property Group is planning to convert three downtown office buildings in Baltimore into 140 market-rate apartments and 30,000 sq ft of ground-level retail space. The buildings, 26-36 South Calvert St. and 117 Water St., were formerly the original headquarters of the United States Fidelity and Guaranty Co., an insurance firm. Stephen Varenhorst Architects is the designer, and PMC will serve as its own general contractor. The project has been valued at $20 million. Minnesota Stonebridge Construction, a developer and general contractor, is planning to build the Victoria Park Apartments in St. Paul. The project includes constructing a four-story, 135,750-sq-ft building containing 215 apartments and a 182-space underground parking garage. New York DHD Ventures of New York is planning to convert three vacant buildings in downtown Rochester into a 107-room Hilton Garden Inn. The project includes the extensive renovation of 79,200 sq ft of existing space at 155 E. Main St. as well as construction of an 18,400-sq-ft addition. The final design will include elements of the original buildings, two of which are over a century old. The hotel's opening is planned for later this year. The project is valued at $5 million. Indiana Selge Construction has started carrying out improvements to the wastewater treatment plant/lift station in Middlebury. The project includes the expansion of the influent pump station and the addition of a clarifier distribution box, a third 50-ft-dia clarifier, an effluent pump station, a chemical feed building and a sludge-dewatering building. The project team also will construct 2,100 ft of 12-in.-dia sewer between the Popcorn Lift Station and the North Lift Station; 1,800 ft of 12-in.-dia force main, using the bore-and-jack , method under state Route 13; and 125 ft of double-barrel siphon under the Little Elkhart River. Texas Siemens Government Technologies Inc. has started constructing the Pantex wind farm. The installation will consist of five 2.3-MW turbines, totaling 11.5 MW. It is located on a 1,500-acre site east of the Pantex plant, which is a U.S. Dept. of Energy facility near Amarillo where nuclear weapons are assembled and disassembled. Siemens was awarded a $55-million contract by the National Nuclear Security Administration. Using an energy savings performance contract (ESPC), Siemens will deliver a turnkey wind-farm system that also includes a multiyear service, maintenance and warranty agreement. Vermont PC Construction is building a new Vermont state health-department laboratory on the campus of the University of Vermont in Burlington. The project encompasses 10,000 sq ft of alterations and a two-story, 55,000-sq-ft addition. The lab will be physically connected to the university's next-door medical-college facilities, which will provide "surge capacity" and extra staff support in case of a major incident. California 6/25 The City of Bakersfield is seeking bidders to carry out the state Route 178 widening project. The project team will widen the freeway to two lanes and one auxiliary lane between Fairfax Road and Morning Drive and to two lanes from Morning Drive to Canteria Drive. Further, Morning Drive will be widened to three lanes in each direction, from just north of Panorama Drive to just south of SR 178. Finally, state Route 58 will be widened to six lanes from four, from 0.5 miles east of the Route 99 grade separation to the Cottonwood Road overpass. Utah 6/25 The Utah Dept. of Administrative Services is seeking statements of qualifications for architectural-engineering services to design a science building for Weber State University in Ogden. The project team will construct a 200,000-sq-ft building and demolish three buildings. Bidding is expected in March 2014. The project is valued at $50.5 million.
