China Beijing Vantone Real Estate Co. Ltd. is planning to build Great City, a 1.3-sq-kilometer model satellite city on a 3-sq-km site outside of Chengdu. Accommodating 80,000 inhabitants within 300 acres of urban space, it will include green building elements and preserve 800 acres of agricultural space. This sustainable city will offer office, commercial and industrial space as well as medical facilities, parks and infrastructure. Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture is the designer, and Mott MacDonald Group is the infrastructure consultant. Construction is expected to be completed by 2021. Beijing Vantone Real Estate Co. Oman Taameer Investment Co. is planning to build the Dhofar Beach Resort in the Dhofar Governate. The project entails building 130 hotel rooms and suites with sky pools, 80 luxury villas with private pools, 80 furnished hotel apartments and three restaurants. Qatar Qatar Petroleum and Shell are planning to build the Al-Karaana Petrochemical Complex, the largest mono-ethylene-glycol (MEG) plant in the world. Sited in Ras Laffan Industrial City, the project entails building a plant that will produce 13.6 billion kilograms of MEG per year, a 2.7-billion-kg-per-year linear-alpha-olefin unit and a steam cracker. The owners have awarded a contract for front-end engineering and design to Fluor Daniel. The project has been valued at $6.5 billion. Russia DreamWorks Animation SKG Inc. has signed an agreement to open three indoor theme parks in Russia with the Regions Group, a developer and property manager. The project entails building theme parks in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Yekaterinburg. While negotiations for the Moscow site are ongoing, the St. Petersburg and Yekaterinburg sites have been selected. Each park will include mixed-use theaters, a hotel, a shopping area and 11,000 parking spaces. The buildings at all three parks will total 10.7 million sq ft. The first park is expected to open in 2015. Each of the three parks is expected to cost $1 billion to build. Regions Group, Seven Balchug St., Moscow. Saudi Arabia The Kingdom Holding Co. is planning to construct Kingdom Tower, the world's tallest building, in Jeddah. The project entails building a 1,000-meter-tall mixed-use skyscraper, containing office space, a hotel, retail and residential apartments. A circular sky terrace will be located at the 610-m level. Saudi Arabia The Ministry of Health is planning to build King Khalid Medical City in Dammam. The project entails building a 1,500-bed hospital; a research center; staff accommodations, ranging from villas to apartments; a conference center; a mosque; a professional and administrative office building; parking structures and a community center. AECOM is the designer, and Vanir Construction Management Inc. is the construction manager. The project has been valued at $1.2 billion. Ministry of Health, King Abdulaziz St., Riyadh. South Korea The Yongsan Development Co. Ltd. is planning to build the Pentominium residential skyscraper in the Yongsan district of Seoul. The project entails building twin parallel 320-m-tall towers, with structural bracing connecting the towers at intervals. The buildings will have four-story skyparks that contain gardens at various intervals. Valued at between $1 billion and $2 billion, the project is being designed by Jahn Architects-Asia. Bids/Contracts/Proposals

China Wuhan Greenland Bin Jiang Property Co. Ltd. has started construction of the Wuhan Greenland Center in Wuhan. The project team will construct a 125-story, 636-m-tall, 28,000-sq-m mixed-use building, which will include office space, apartments and a hotel. Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture is the designer, and Thornton Tomasetti is the structural engineer. The project has been valued at between $700 million and $800 million. India Larsen & Toubro Ltd. has selected the Mott MacDonald Group Ltd. to provide architectural and structural design services for six Hyderabad metro stations. The project entails designing three transfer stations (Ameerpet, Parade Grounds and the Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station) and three metro stations (Panjagutta, Hi-Tech City and Jubilee Hills Checkpost). Larsen & Toubro was awarded the Hyderabad metro rail project by the government of Andhra Pradesh on a design, build, finance, operate and transfer basis. The overall construction cost of the entire metro system is estimated to be $3.1 billion; it is expected to be completed by late 2017. Larsen & Toubro Ltd., L&T House, Ballard Estates, Mumbai.
