Maryland Metropolitan Partnership is planning to convert 10 Light St., a 34-story office building in Baltimore, into a 445-unit residential building. North Dakota Dakota Gasification Co. is planning to build a urea plant at its facility near Beulah. It will produce between 1,100 and 2,200 short tons of urea per day. Dakota Gasification has selected IHI E&C International Corp. to perform a front-end engineering design study for the plant. Arizona Okland Construction Co. has started construction of a mixed-use building, ASU Block 12, at Arizona State University in Tempe. The project entails constructing a six-story, 75,000-sq-ft building that will contain the Del E. Webb School of Construction, an auditorium, a two-level bookstore with food service, and other offices and classrooms. The job also includes the demolition of the Design Annex, a 5,000-sq-ft building. The project is valued at between $25 million and $50 million. Okland Construction Co. Illinois Plote Construction has started work on a U.S. 30 roadway improvement program in Kendall County. The project entails reconstructing 2.4 miles of roadway between Briarcliff Road and U.S. 34, adding lanes and noise abatement walls, and modernizing traffic signals. The project includes 43,640 cu yd of earth excavation, 8,460 cu yd of trench backfill, 29,482 cu yd of topsoil, 29 acres of seeding, 17,850 sq yd of sodding, 102,355 sq yd of aggregate subgrade improvement, 101,522 sq yd of stabilized subbase, 77,443 sq yd of portland-cement concrete pavement, 91,143 sq yd of pavement removal and 16,257 ft of storm sewers. New York The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has awarded an $8.9-million, firm-fixed-price design-build contract to Structural Associates Inc. to build a medical clinic at Fort Drum. The project involves the construction of a 23,758-sq-ft building, which will contain clinical and administrative spaces, and an enclosed walkway to connect it to the existing Guthrie Clinic. Wyoming Key Construction is starting to build a TownePlace Suites by Marriott hotel in Cheyenne. The project entails the construction of an 88-room, four-story, 60,000-sq-ft building with an indoor pool. The project has been valued at between $10 million and $15 million. The project entails the construction of 10 four-story buildings, totalling 132,249 sq ft and 87 units. The project has been valued at between $25 million and $35 million. Florida 3/22 Miami-Dade County is seeking bidders to carry out the Miami Zoo expansion project. The project entails building an entryway to the new "Florida: Mission Everglades" exhibition area, which is expected to open in 2014. The new entryway will include a ticketing-gift shop-concessions building; a multipurpose building, containing offices, restrooms and rental spaces; and the flamingo exhibit. Washington 4/2 The City of Lynden is seeking bidders to build the Lynden Water Treatment Plant. The project entails building an 8-million-gallon-per-day conventional treatment plant, which will include a dewatering room; headworks with grit-removal, rapid-mix, flocculation and sedimentation basins; dual-media deep-bed filters; an ultraviolet disinfection system; clearwell, finished-water pumping; a backwash water equalization tank and sludge thickener; and a 3,200-sq-ft administration-control building. Ohio 4/11 The Ohio Dept. of Transportation is seeking bidders to carry out a bridge repair project. The project entails replacing the 3,000-ft-long deck on the Interstate 77 bridge, a multiple-span steel-girder structure that crosses the Cuyahoga River in Independence. Valued at $28 million, the job includes rehabilitating the substructure, replacing expansion joints, drainage improvements and partial painting of structural steel.
