Alaska The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has awarded a $15-million firm-fixed-price contract to Marsh Creek LLC for a soil remediation project at Umiat Air Force Station. The project entails the excavation, removal, transport and disposal of an estimated 1,300 tons of PCB-and petroleum-contaminated soil remaining in the vicinity of the No. 9 test well and a burn pit area located about 500 ft from the wellhead. Indiana LeCesse Construction Co. has started construction of The Barrington of Carmel senior living complex in Carmel. The project entails building one-, two- and three-story buildings totalling 400,000 sq ft, including 170 independent units, 32 assisted-living units, 30 units for skilled nursing care and 16 memory-care units. Maryland Costello Construction of Maryland Inc. has started construction of the Silver Spring Library & Arts Center at the intersection of Wayne Avenue and Fenton Street. The project entails building a five-story, 70,000-sq-ft building, which will contain the library, an arts education center and some space for city offices. Virginia The Naval Facilities Engineering Command has awarded a $15.9-million, firm-fixed-price task order under a multiple-award construction contract to Hourigan Construction to design-build a logistics support facility and military working-dog facility at Naval Air Station Oceana, Dam Neck Annex, in Virginia Beach. The logistics support facility is a 30,000-sq-ft concrete-masonry building with a passenger-freight elevator. The military working-dog facility will be an 18,003-sq-ft building containing kennel space for dogs, space for veterinary care, and associated administrative and storage space.
