Australia Centro Retail Australia is planning to redevelop the Centro Cranbourne Shopping Mall in Cranbourne, a suburb of Melbourne. The project entails the interior alteration of a single-story, 365,000-sq-ft building. The project is valued at between $15 million and $25 million. Brazil The Ministry of Energy is planning to carry out two sugar-bagasse cogeneration projects in São Paolo state. The Alta Mogiana bagasse co-generation project is hosted by Usina Alta Mogiana S.A. and focuses on increasing efficiency in the co-generation process to produce more steam and increasing electricity output to supply the national grid. In the first phase, two 21-bar-pressure boilers will be refurbished and a new, 25-MW turbo-generator installed. The Guarani Cruz Alta bagasse co-generation project is hosted by Azucar Guarani S.A. and focuses on installing new facilities to increase the electricity output from its generation plant. Under phase one, a 21.8-MW back-pressure turbo-generator a 63-bar boiler will be installed. In phase two, a 25-MW pressure turbo-generator and a 63-bar boiler will be installed. Project News From Dodge Network International

China The Fu Wah International Group is planning to develop Beijing Medical City. The project will encompass world-class hospitals, medical research buildings, medical education facilities and residential buildings. Phase one will include 1.2 square miles of land in the Tongzhou District of east Beijing, and phase two will add 4.6 square miles, including five parks. HDR is doing master-planning and design. Germany The U.S. European Command is planning to build the Kaiserslautern Military Community Medical Center at U.S. Army Garrison Kaiserslautern, located about 60 miles southwest of Frankfurt. The job entails constructing an oval-shaped administration building, a star-shaped inpatient tower, and a large, horizontal building containing diagnostics and treatment areas. The entire complex will total one million sq ft and contain several vegetated roofs. The complex is being designed by HOK (Hellmuth, Obata & Kassabaum). Kenya-Ethiopia The Kenyan Ministry of Planning and Development is planning to build an electric transmission line. The project entails constructing a 1,068-kilometer-long, 500-kV direct- current transmission line between Kenya and Ethiopia as well as associated converter stations at Suswa, Kenya and Wolayta-Sodo, Ethiopia. The line will have a power transfer capacity of up to 2,000 MW. Construction is expected to be completed in 2017. The line will enable Ethiopia to export surplus power from its new hydropower plants and position Kenya as the hub for power trading in East Africa. The project is being financed by the World Bank, the French Development Agency, and the governments of Ethiopia and Kenya. The project has been valued at $1.26 billion. Poland The Marshal's Office of Silesian Voivodeship is planning to build a new, 2.8-km-long stretch of road between Gliwice and Zabrze, including two road crossings, four viaducts and a bridge over the Klodnica River. Yemen The Ministry of Health is planning to build Al Saleh Medical City in Sana'a. The project entails building a medical campus, including a 100-bed hospital, outpatient clinics, diagnostic centers, laboratories and residential facilities for the medical staff. It is being designed by Arabtech Jardaneh Engineers & Architects. Valued at $366 million, the project is expected to be completed by July 2015. Djibouti The U.S. Naval Facilities Engineering Command is currently evaluating proposals from design-build teams seeking to construct the headquarters building at Camp Lemonnier. The job entails the construction of a two-story, 50,892-sq-ft building that will house the Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa. Camp Lemonnier, a U.S. military base since 2003, is the primary base of operations for the U.S. Africa Command in the Horn of Africa. The project is valued at between $30 million and $40 million. England Network Rail has selected Balfour Beatty Rail to build a railway viaduct in Reading. The project entails building a 2-km-long viaduct for the main-line passenger service, which will serve as an overpass, eliminating an at-grade intersection with a freight line and, as a result, possible delays. United Arab Emirates Shanghai Electric Group Co. Ltd. and Utico Middle East have started construction of a clean coal-fired powerplant in Ras Al Khaimah. The project entails building a 270-MW powerplant that will employ carbon-capture technology. The project owner is the Ras Al Khaimah government.
