Connecticut Building and Land Technology, a developer, is planning to build a new corporate headquarters to be leased by Bridgewater Associates in Stamford. The project entails the construction of a 750,000-sq-ft building in the Harbor Point development. Construction is expected to be completed by 2017. Michigan The Auburn Bean & Grain Cos. is planning to build a grain-loading facility in Standish. The project entails the construction of a facility that will have an initial capacity of two million bushels of grain storage and be able to load a 90-car unit train with a 40,000-bushel-per-hour load-out capability. The facility will have room to grow significantly as business increases. The facility will be ready to receive wheat in summer 2013 and corn and soybeans that fall. Kentucky Louisville Gas & Electric and Kentucky Utilities have awarded a contract to Zachry Engineering Corp. for the engineering, procurement and construction retrofit of the Mill Creek Generating Station in Louisville. On-site mobilization has begun, and work is expected to continue through 2016. The project entails the retrofit of Units 1 and 2 with new ductwork, new pulse jet fabric filters (PJFF), four new booster fans, a single new wet flue gas desulfurization (WFGD) system and a new chimney. The project also includes demolishing the existing Unit 3 WFGD as well as furnishing and installing new ductwork and new PJFF and BOP support systems. The retrofit scope for Unit 4 includes a new PJFF, new booster fans, a new WFGD and a new chimney. The project's value has been estimated at between $10 million and $15 million. California 10/22 The Hospice of Humboldt is seeking proposals from general contractors to provide pre-construction services, with an option to be exercised at the owner's discretion to act as the general contractor to build a new hospice complex in Eureka. The project entails the construction of a two-story, 18,000-sq-ft administration building; a 14,500-sq-ft inpatient hospice facility; a 900-sq-ft chapel that will be surrounded by a 146-space parking lot; and walking paths and trails on a 13.5-acre wooded site.
