New York The SeaView Senior Living Housing Development Fund Corp. is planning to build the SeaView Senior Housing Campus in Staten Island. The project entails the construction of an 11,820-sq-ft commons building and a three-story, 95,000-sq-ft building, which will contain 120 assisted-living units, and the renovation of a 9,000-sq-ft staff residence for social gatherings and ancillary uses. Located on a 15-acre site on Brielle Avenue between Walcott and Rockland avenues in the Willowbrook neighborhood, the project is valued at $26 million. Ohio The Toledo Zoo is planning to renovate their aquarium. The project entails expanding the total water volume of its exhibits to 170,000 gallons from 46,000 gallons. The largest exhibit, the new 90,000-gallon Pacific Coral Reef tank, will be accommodated within the historical rotunda of the original building with six new, large windows. In addition, a new 40,000-gallon outdoor penguin exhibit is being proposed. Construction is expected to begin in November, and the remodeled facility is scheduled to open in spring 2015. Arkansas Clark Contractors LLC has started construction of Founders Hall at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. The mixed-use project entails constructing a six-story, 75,000-sq-ft building that will contain a 150- to 180-seat classroom on the ground floor, dorm rooms for 140 to 150 students and an expansion of Brough Commons on the second floor, with a direct connection to the current dining hall. Idaho Engineered Structures has started construction of the Zions Bank Idaho headquarters in Boise. The project entails the construction of a 17-story, 362,000-sq-ft building. The bottom two floors will be retail space, and the third to fifth floors will be used for parking. Construction is expected to be completed by January 2014. The project is valued at $45 million. Missouri The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has awarded a $25.1-million firm-fixed-price contract to the AWA Wilson Joint Venture to renovate three barracks at Fort Leonard Wood. The project entails renovating two existing three-story barracks totaling 40,640 sq ft. Besides asbestos abatement, the job includes the reconfiguration of existing squad bays to "open troop bay"-type layouts for a maximum capacity of 240 personnel. The rehabilitation of the AIT barracks includes the reconfiguration of the existing barracks' sleeping quarters to sleeping rooms, each accommodating three soldiers. Texas The City of Dallas Park and Recreation Dept. has selected Heery International to perform a $24.2-million design-build renovation of the historic Cotton Bowl Stadium in Fair Park. The project entails the installation of new club seating and lounges, renovations to the original concourses and press box, and the installation of a new stadium facade at the end zones. As the design-build team leader, Heery International will be responsible for design and program management, while Balfour Beatty Construction will perform construction. Both companies are part of London-based Balfour Beatty. Construction is expected to begin in January 2013, and completion is scheduled for summer 2013. Bid/Proposal Dates

California 10/15 The City of Los Angeles Harbor Dept. is seeking bidders to construct the South Wilmington grade-separation project. The project entails building a grade-separation structure that will link Harry Bridges Boulevard, Pier A Street and Fries Avenue with a proposed new entrance to the TraPac Terminal. The structure will consist of 2,300 ft of prestressed, cast-in-place concrete box girders on 7-ft-dia concrete columns, built on footings supported by 24-in.-dia precast, prestressed concrete piles. Bridge approaches will use 32,000 sq ft of a mechanically stabilized, earthen retaining wall. A large number of underground oil and gas lines will have to be relocated. The project will be built over the Pier A Street rail-yard entrance track and the San Pedro railroad track, both of which will remain active during construction. Georgia 10/18 Forsyth County is seeking bidders for a jail expansion project in Cumming. The project entails building a 175,000-sq-ft jail expansion, a 160,000-sq-ft courthouse expansion, a new parking facility for 800 vehicles and the renovation of the existing courthouse.
