Arizona The Ryan Cos. US Inc. and Sunbelt Holdings are planning to build Hayden Ferry Lakeside III, an office tower, on Tempe Town Lake at the intersection of Mill Avenue and Rio Salado Parkway. The project entails the construction of a 10-story, 245,000-sq-ft building. Ryan plans to serve as the job's construction manager/general contractor. Ohio The developer Coral Co. and Panzica Construction Co. are planning to build Intesa, a mixed-use project on a 2.2-acre site at the border of the University Circle and Little Italy neighborhoods in Cleveland. The project encompasses a 100,000-sq-ft office building, two apartment buildings and a multi-level 700-space parking garage. The buildings will share space on the first and second floors with retail and start-up companies. It is being designed by Bialosky + Partners Architects. New York The University of Rochester has chosen Fairmount Properties to develop College Town, a mixed-use project. The project entails retail, market-rate apartments and high-end office space totaling 500,000 sq ft on a 16-acre site on the west side of Mt. Hope Avenue between Elmwood Avenue and Crittenden Boulevard. The site may also host a hotel with a conference center, a food market, a small transit center with a parking facility and a new YMCA. Fairmount's joint- venture partner, Gilbane Development Co., will serve as construction manager. Contracts for demolition, sitework and utility work are expected to be awarded this coming fall, with vertical construction expected to commence in spring 2013. Michigan Exelon Corp. has been selected as the general contractor for the Beebe Wind Farm in Gratiot County. The project entails building an 81.6-MW wind farm, consisting of thirty-four 2.4-MW turbines on 91 meter towers across 21,000 acres. The project owner is Beebe Community Wind LLC. Virginia The Shooshan Co. has selected KBR Building Group to provide construction services for The Place at Founders Square in Arlington. The project entails building a 1.2 million-sq-ft mixed-use development, including a 17-story, 238,060-sq-ft residential tower, which will have design features such as a prominent curved-window wall, a rooftop terrace, two spas and an interior club room. Maryland 4/27 The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is seeking design-build bidders to build a new supercomputing center for the National Security Agency, to be located at Fort Meade. The High-Performance Computing Center will feature 60 MW of power and depressed slab construction, with a floor-load rating of 600 lb per sq inch. The estimated construction cost is $860 million. The primary facility will include modular shell buildings, anti-terrorism hardening and fire protection. Security features will include a vehicle cargo-inspection facility, visitor control center, and chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear detection systems. California 5/1 The San Diego County Water Authority is seeking bidders to carry out a pipeline relining project. The job entails using steel liners to reline 2,400 ft of the existing 69-in.-dia Pipeline 3 and 16,600 ft of the existing 72-in.-dia Pipeline 4, which are made of prestressed-concrete cylinder pipe. Furthermore, the project will install access portals and cathodic-protection monitoring stations as well as grout between the liner and the existing prestressed-concrete cylinder pipe. Massachusetts 5/10 The Massachusetts Dept. of Transportation is seeking design-build bidders to restore Longfellow Bridge. The 1,767-ft-long steel-arch bridge carries Route 3 and the Massachusetts transportation authority's Red Line across the Charles River to Boston and Cambridge. The project is valued at $225 million.
