California The City of Riverside is planning to carry out the Streeter Avenue Grade Separation Project. The project will lower Streeter Avenue under the railroad tracks. Two bridges will be built, one to carry the railroad tracks across Dewey Avenue and one to carry tracks over Streeter Avenue. The project will close Appleton Street at Streeter and build new roadways between Streeter and Appleton Street. Construction is expected to begin in late 2012 and be completed by fall 2013. Texas Battleground Oil Specialty Terminal Co. LLC is planning to build, own and operate a new oil terminal, located at mile marker 43 on the Houston ship channel. The project's first phase encompasses two deepwater ship docks, 12 barge spots, 12 rail spots, pipeline connections for crude and 52 storage tanks, with a capacity of 6.6 million barrels. Battleground is a joint venture of Kinder Morgan Energy Partners L.P. and TransMontaigne Partners L.P. Construction is expected to begin in January 2012 and be completed by October 2013. Georgia Cherokee County has selected New South Construction Co. to build the Cherokee Aquatic Center on a nine-acre site in Holly Springs. The project will compass indoor and outdoor water features. The center will include a 48,000-sq-ft building containing a 50-meter competition pool, as well as spectator platforms, and a four-lane therapy pool for water aerobics. The outdoor features include a leisure pool, a "lazy river" and waterslides. The project is expected to be completed by spring 2013. The estimated construction cost is $15.7 million. Louisiana The Orleans Parish School Board currently is evaluating bids from contractors seeking to build the Alice Harte Elementary School in New Orleans. Massachusetts Suffolk Construction has started construction of The Victor, a 12-story, 377,000-sq-ft residential tower containing 286 rental apartments, located at 95 Haverhill St. in Boston. The project also includes 17,000 sq ft of retail space, a three-story, above-grade 138-space parking garage, two rooftop lounges and a 3,000-sq-ft health club. The developer is Simpson Housing LLP. The project entails building a 140,000-sq-ft facility, which will contain both administrative and maintenance operations: a full-service maintenance garage, dispatch center, diesel and compressed natural-gas fueling stations, a parts storage area, and parking for buses, support vehicles and employee vehicles. The job will include a clean-water recycle bus-wash system, a photovoltaic solar-power system and a geothermal heat-pump system.
