CALIFORNIA The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission has selected HDR Engineering Inc. to provide construction management services for the Harry Tracy Water Treatment Plant Long-Term Improvement Project. The project includes the transmission and local systems, which comprise more than 1,500 miles of pipeline, 23 reservoirs, 17 pump stations and two water treatment plants. COLORADO Western State College has selected JE Dunn to provide construction-management/general-contracting services for a new, 66-unit, 97-bed student apartment complex as well as a recreation center and a multipurpose field house on its Gunnison campus. FLORIDA The Florida Dept. of Transportation, District 2, has selected Reynolds Smith & Hills Construction Services Inc. to provide construction-engineering inspection services for concrete improvements on I-95 in Duval County, from south of Greenland Road to south of state Route 202. GEORGIA The Batson-Cook Co. has started construction on two new projects at the Northside Hospital Forsyth campus in Cumming. One project is a three-story addition to the hospital’s women’s center, which will add 24 beds and two care-team stations. The first floor will comprise training rooms and classrooms, while the basement will hold the doctors’ sleeping quarters as well as the mechanical hub. This project is valued at $16.8 million. The second project is a 55,000-sq-ft addition to the Medical Surgical Center, which will contain 24 new ICU rooms as well as 20 new surgical patient rooms. This project is valued at $20.9 million. LOUISIANA The National World War II Museum currently is evaluating bids from contractors seeking to build the U.S. Freedom Pavilion. The project entails building a 32,000-sq-ft building that will feature a 90-ft-high glass curtain wall; in the facility, there will be an interactive submarine exhibit, and various restored aircraft will be suspended in the air. NEW YORK The New York State Thruway Authority has selected Charles H. Sells Inc. to provide design services for the rehabilitation of pavement and minor structural repairs on northbound and southbound I-95 between mileposts N.E. 0.17 and N.E. 14.1 in the Bronx and Westchester counties. OREGON The Tri-County Metropolitan Transportation District of Oregon has selected Stacy and Witbeck to provide construction-management/general-contracting services for the Portland-to-Milwaukie Light-Rail Project, East Segment. The segment will extend from the east abutment of the Willamette River Transit Bridge to the Park Avenue terminus. The project includes light-rail track construction, water and sewer lines, and reconstruction of streets and sidewalks. The estimated construction cost is $200 million. Stacy and Witbeck, 403 S.E. PENNSYLVANIA Pennrose Properties LLC has awarded a $17-million contract to Quandel Group Inc. to convert the historic Steelton-Highspire Elementary School in Harrisburg into Felton Lofts, an 83-unit affordable-housing complex. The project entails rehabilitating three late 19th- to early-20th-Century school buildings into one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments as well as a community center and indoor parking garage. SOUTH DAKOTA The Rapid City Regional Airport Board has awarded a $13.4- million contract to J. Scull Construction Services for the expansion and remodeling of the airport terminal.
