ALASKA Watterson/Davis JV has been awarded an $11.2-million firm-fixed-price contract by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for the construction of an F22A weapons-loading crew training facility, at Elmendorf Air Force Base in Anchorage. CALIFORNIA Shasta County has selected Pace Engineering Inc. to provide engineering and construction administration services to assist in expanding water service in the Jones Valley area through the Elk Trail Water Improvement Project. FLORIDA Schenkel Shultz has been selected by Valencia Community College to provide design services for an 80,000-sq-ft, LEED-certified corporate training and classroom building on the West Campus in Orlando. GEORGIA A joint venture of H.J. High Construction Co. and Batson-Cook Co. has been awarded a contract to build the Mitsubishi Power Systems Machinery Works in Pooler. The project will entail two bays of manufacturing facilities totalling 150,000 sq ft, as well as a 30,000-sq-ft office facility. The project is valued at $325 million. NEW MEXICO Flintco Inc. has been selected by the county of Taos to act as project representative to provide quality-assurance services for the new Administrative/Detention and Judicial Complex in Taos. The project includes three two-story buildings totalling 125,000 to 135,000 sq ft, a courthouse, detention-center facilities and an administrative building with all security, administrative and functional services. The project includes a secure corridor linking the jail and the courthouse, and a parking lot containing over 400 spaces.The project is valued at $38 million. Flintco Inc., 6020 Indian School Rd. OHIO 2/24 U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, 600 Dr. Martin Luther King Plaza, Louisville, Ky. 40202, laboratory. The Wright Patterson Advanced Power and Thermal Research Lab project will entail the complete interior demolition, including floor slabs, and asbestos abatement of Building 23, as well as construction of three new floors with approximately 53,000 sq ft of laboratory space. The new lab space will include areas for materials processing, clean-room operations, dry-room operations, fabrication facilities and a copper-shielded high bay.
