CALIFORNIA URS Corp. has been selected by the Port of Long Beach to provide master planning, engineering-design services and program-management services for phases two, three and four of the Pier G Terminal Redevelopment Program. The project will include construction of two new wharves with ship-to-shore power, new terminal buildings and landfilling. The project is valued at $500 million. MINNESOTA Mortenson Construction is leading a team that has been awarded a $143-million design-build contract by the Ramsey County Regional Rail Authority for the renovation of Union Depot in St. Paul. Union Depot will be transformed from a freight rail facility to a multimodal transit hub with services for passenger rail, buses and light rail. Mortenson’s partners are URS Corp. and HGA. NEW JERSEY VRH Construction Corp. has been awarded a $59-million contract by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey to build a new domestic departures hall at Terminal B of Newark Liberty International Airport. The departures hall will be built in space formerly occupied by the terminal’s baggage-claim area. The project will include installation of new check-in counters, baggage-handling systems and airline offices. It is expected to be completed by mid-2012. NEW MEXICO Williams Design Group, Inc. and SMPC Architects have been selected by New Mexico State University to provide architectural and engineering services for phases six and seven of the East Mesa Center at Dona Ana Community College’s East Mesa campus. OREGON GBD Architects has been selected by Portland Community College to provide architectural and engineering services to support the Sylvania Campus 2008 bond projects. Projects include the renovation of approximately 160,000 sq ft of existing space, 120,000 sq ft of new construction and improvements to parking, landscaping and stormwater management. PENNSYLVANIA Turner Construction Co. has been selected by Drexel University to manage construction of the Constantine Papadakis Integrated Sciences Building in Philadelphia. VIRGINIA MEB General Contractors has been awarded a $36.4-million firm-fixed-price contract by the Naval Facilities Engineering Command for replacement of fuel storage tanks at the Navy’s Craney Island Fuel Terminal in Portsmouth. The project entails demolition of 19 old bulk-storage tanks and construction of six new tanks. NEVADA 2/3 Clark County School District is seeking proposals for architectural services for various facility-modernization and replacement projects.
