CALIFORNIA The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission has awarded S.J. Amoroso Construction Co. a $29.6- million contract for the seismic retrofit of the North Basin of the University Mound Reservoir, located at University and Felton streets. The project involves general rehabilitation, such as replacing reservoir lining material and valves, and seismic rehabilitation of the reservoir walls and roof. FLORIDA The Sunny Isles Beach City Council has awarded a $9.2-million contract to Coastal Construction Group for the construction of Sunny Isles Beach Heritage Park and parking garage, a four-acre multi-use facility located at 19200 Collins Ave. in Sunny Isles Beach. The park will contain two playgrounds, a gazebo, a basketball court and an exercise trail. In addition, the project will include a 500-space parking garage, a concession stand and public restrooms. NEW JERSY The New Jersey Dept. of Transportation has awarded a $15-million contract to AECOM Technology Corp. for construction management and inspection services. The work involves completing the second phase of the replacement of causeway bridges and road sections of Route 52. The project, valued at $250 million, will eliminate two drawbridges at Ocean City and Somers Point and eliminate Somers Point Circle, as well as make improvements to MacArthur Blvd. It is partially funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. WISCONSIN The U.S. Dept. of Veterans Affairs has awarded a $26.9-million design-build contract to the C3T Construction Co. for a spinal-cord injury center at the Milwaukee VA Medical Center. The two-story, 67,000-sq-ft free-standing building will provide 38 outpatient beds and include space for recreational and physical therapy, a specialty clinic and a kitchen. It will have a connecting tunnel to the main hospital building. Design and construction will overlap, and completion is expected in less than two years.
