The new Smiths High School in Smiths Station will consist of three two-story, structural-steel buildings with approximately 264,000 sq ft of total space. There will be 40 classrooms as well as a gym, cafeteria and administrative offices. The contract covers site improvements for the project, which include grading, drainage, erosion control, asphalt paving, sewage and assorted earthwork. The total project is estimated at $45 million. NORTH CAROLINA 6/4 Appalachian State University, Dougherty Administration Building, Boone, 28608-0001, academic building. The new Reich College of Education building at Appalachian State University in Boone will consist of a five-story, 123,000-sq-ft structural-steel building with both classroom and administrative space. MASSACHUSETTS 6/8 Division of Capital Asset Management, Commonwealth of Mass., McCormack State Office Building 1, Ashburton Place, Floor 16, Boston, 02108-1518, data center. A contingency data center is to be constructed in Springfield to provide additional IT capacity for the state. The facility will have approximately 135,000 sq ft of space, of which 60,000 sq ft will be raised floor data center space. The project is currently estimated at $66 million. LOUISIANA 6/9 St. Mary’s Academy, 6905 Chef Mentuer Highway, New Orleans, 70126, high school rebuild. St. Mary’s Academy in New Orleans is to undergo significant rebuilding and new construction to repair and replace hurricane-damaged facilities. The repaired two-story, 95,000-sq-ft school will have facilities for 750 students, including a library, gymnasium, dining hall, classrooms, administrative offices and sports fields. NEBRASKA 6/9 Lancaster County Board of Commissioners, 440 S. 8th St. Suite 200, Lincoln, 68508-2294, detention facility. The Lancaster County Adult Detention Facility in Lincoln will consist of a single-story, 256,000-sq-ft precast-concrete-frame building. The facility will have a 657-bed capacity. Multiple contracts are going to bid, including piles and foundation, structural concrete, interiors and masonry. The total project is currently valuated at $66 million.
