PENNSYLVANIA Reynolds Consulting Engineers was awarded a contract to provide building commissioning services for the new Park Avenue Child Care Center on the main campus of Pennsylvania State University in University Park. Horizons Design-Michael Lindstrom Architects LLC is the architect selected to design the new 18,000-sq-ft facility to accommodate 170 children and provide classrooms and program space for the university’s child-care program. The estimated $5.5-million project has a goal of obtaining LEED gold-level certification. PENNSYLVANIA The Housing Authority of the County of Chester has selected Remington Group Inc. to oversee planning and construction of the proposed new redevelopment of Fairview Village near Fairview Ave. and Grant St. on the north side of Phoenixville. Under the proposal, all of Fairview’s existing residential structures will be demolished and a new 50-unit village constructed for HACC by developer Pennrose Properties LLC. CALIFORNIA The Los Angeles Unified School District selected Turner Construction Company to manage construction of the new $90-million Central Region High School #16 in Los Angeles. CONNECTICUT The Freshwater Group retained W&M Construction Corp. as the construction manager for a $10-million renovation and expansion project at The Watermark, a continuing-care retirement community at 3030 Park in Bridgeport. The project consists of major improvements to the two-story, 50,000-sq-ft health-care center that will result in a facility for skilled nursing with new mechanical and electrical systems and a new roof as well as the construction of two full-service kitchens and more than 50 rooms for patients. NEW JERSY Turner Construction Company has been selected to construct a $441-million replacement hospital for University Medical Center at Princeton in Plainsboro Township, N.J. NORTH CAROLINA A contract for the design and construction of an aircraft maintenance hangar, phases one and two, was awarded to the Whiting-Turner Contracting Co. by the U.S. Naval Facilities Engineering Command. Located at the Marine Corps Air Station New River at Camp Lejeune in Jacksonville. Work calls for construction of a multi-story aircraft maintenance hangar to provide hangar bay, shop space, flight line operations, and maintenance functions in support of the V-22 aircraft squadrons.
