The Kobelco SK850LC Crawler Excavator weighs 92 tons and boasts a bucket breakout force of 39.7 tons. It is powered by a 510-hp, common-rail, fuel-injected engine that uses an exhaust-gas recirculation system to meet emission standards. The crawler excavator has a maximum dig depth of 31 ft, 10 in., and features a 17.7-ton counterweight.

The Makita XRJ01/Z Recipro Saw is powered by an 18-volt lithium-ion battery that can be fully charged in only 30 minutes. The 3.9-lb reciprocating saw features a two-way power switch that allows for either paddle- or trigger-style operation. Designed for cutting PVC and copper pipe as well as conduit, the saw has a variable speed of up to 3,000 strokes per minute and a half-inch cutting length. A built-in LED illuminates the work area.

The Bosch DD181X Drill-Driver features an active-response system to reduce kickback when the bit binds. An accelerometer shuts off the tool's motor current if it detects sudden movements, thus reducing kickback. Powered by a 18-volt lithium-ion battery, the DD181X weighs 4.75 lb and can deliver 708 lb of torque. The drill-driver has a suggested retail price of $279.

The Leica ScanStation P15 is an entry-level laser scanner that offers many of the same features as the ScanStation P20 but in a more accessible device. It has a maximum scanning distance of 141 ft and features a simple touch-screen interface.
