Product Snapshot: Rough-Terrain Crane and Six-Cylinder Diesel Engine
JCB has announced a new line of six-cylinder diesel engines, starting with the 7.2-liter Dieselmax 672. The engine's design is based on the four-cylinder, 4.8-liter Dieselmax engine and uses many of the same parts. The Dieselmax 672 will be targeted to markets such as Russia, Brazil and China and, as a result, will meet Stage II emissions requirements. Initially, the engine will power JCB's JS360 crawler-excavator in those markets, with plans to expand into other heavy equipment. The six-cylinder lineup will include engines with horsepower ratings of 188, 221, 255 and one with a maximum output of 302 hp.

The Miller Twin Turbo Fall Protection System provides 100% tie-off for Miller's TurboLite and Turbo T-BAK personal-fall limiters. The limiters are able to swivel independently for greater mobility. A built-in webbing-retainer clip prevents the carabiner from unintentionally opening during a fall.

The Sany SCR885 Rough-Terrain Crane has a rated lifting capacity of 85 tons at a 10-ft radius. The crane's five-segment telescoping boom can extend to a maximum reach of 209 ft. The SCR885 has an operational weight of 58 tons. It is powered by a 275-hp Cummins Interim Tier 4 engine and features 4x4 hydraulic-powered steering and earthmover-style tires for work on uneven terrain. Three-position outriggers stabilize the crane, with a maximum horizontal extension of 24 ft.

The Thunder Creek 500-gallon Diesel Trailer is now available with a 40-gallon diesel-exhaust-fluid (DEF) option. Used in engines that employ selective-catalytic-reduction emission controls, the DEF now can be deployed in the field from the same trailer-mounted rig as the diesel fuel.
