The DeLorme inReach is a GPS receiver capable of sending SMS text messages via satellite communication. It is now compatible with iOS devices, including Apple iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. The inReach is dust-proof, waterproof and impact-resistant. Using the DeLorme Earthmate app for iOS or Android, SMS text messages can be sent from anywhere in the world. New engine and transmission options are now available for the Western Star 6900 Truck. The 15.6-liter Detroit DD16 engine has 600 hp and 2,050 lb-ft of torque and boasts an improved torque performance curve. The Detroit Series 60 Tier 3 engine is now available for the Western Star 6900 Twin-Steer Truck. The Allison RDS 4500 and 4700 automatic transmissions are also available for the 6900TS Truck. The Allison transmission is well suited to drilling operations: A propulsion mode puts power to the wheels in rugged terrain, while, in stationary mode, it can supply power to pumps, winches and augersin the field. The Hilti DD 150-U Diamond Coring System allows the operator to drill by hand or with a core stand in wet or dry conditions. It has a 6-in. capacity for drilling a variety of hole sizes. The system can be used on concrete and reinforced concrete as well as brick, concrete block and stone. The DD 150-U's motor has three-speed gearing for optimum drilling speeds. The Makita 18V LXT Brushless Impact Driver and 18V LXT Brushless Hammer Driver-Drill are now available in a combination kit. The brushless motors are electronically controlled to adjust torque and rpm to the task, which can contribute to a longer battery life. The cordless impact driver can deliver up to 3,200 impacts per minute. It is 57/8 in. long and weighs 3.4 lb. The hammer driver-drill has 16 clutch settings anda variable two-speed motor.
