Communicating Risk Is Key to Hazard Mitigation 03/09/11 Industry professionals poured out their passion at a conference in Washington, D.C., about the nation’s need to step up efforts to mitigate natural hazards through more resilient design and construction. Earthquakes, floods, hurricanes and wildfires are known natural hazards with risks that vary by location, but speakers at the event agreed that these risks can be mitigated by building in resilience. | 05/18/11 | AIA To Offer Cloud Service For Multitude of Documents Early next year, the American Institute of Architects plans to launch a cloud-based service that will enable users of its contracts and documents to search, edit, share and store the forms easily. AIA unveiled its Next Generation Service during its convention on May 12-14 in New Orleans. The program will be compatible with both Apple and PC formats and have security features similar to online banking, says Maan Hashem, AIA managing director for software products and services. All the institute’s 100-plus contracts will be made available. |
