Photographer: Mike Manoski Submitter: Dottie Hutchins Manoski, working for Cianbro Corp., a Pittsfield, Maine-based steel erector, snapped an "in-spire-ational" photo of ironworkers cladding the $30-million U.S. Air Force Memorial in stainless steel. The three-spire concrete structure, which looks like contrails from a split plane formation, was completed in October. The energetic sculpture, which stands 270 ft in Arlington, Va., was designed by the late James Ingo Freed. |
