These rankings are based on construction in progress, the capitalized amount for construction of plant and structures not completed during the year. The information is compiled by Standard & Poor’s from the latest available audited results from 10-K and corporate annual reports. However, many corporations’ filings do not break out construction from other capital expenditures and are absent from this list. To fill this gap, ENR provides a separate ranking of firms by reported capital expenditures, also from Standard & Poor’s.
