Glover
The Roberts Co., a Winterville, N.C., mechanical-electrical contractor specializing in industral markets, has hired R.M. "Monty" Glover as chief operating officer. A 13-year veteran of The Shaw Group Inc., he had been president of that firm's construction division and of its energy and chemicals group. The Roberts Co. ranks at No. 115 on ENR's list of The Top 600 Specialty Firms, with $148.7 million in 2012 revenue.

Garrett Terlaak has joined fs3|Hodges, a San Clemente, Calif., construction management firm, as a principal. He had been vice president at O'Connor Construction Management Inc.

Currie & Brown, a U.K. consulting firm acquired by Cairo-based Dar Al Handasah Consultants in 2012, has appointed Greg Ayres as president and chief operating officer of its U.S. business. He formerly was director of business development at AMS Ltd and was a managing director at Parsons Brinckerhoff Inc.

John Hillman has joined Parsons Corp., Pasadena, Calif., as bridge practice leader, based in Chicago. He had been senior structural engineer at exp US Services Inc. and remains chairman and CEO of HCB Inc. Hillman received ENR's 2010 Award of Excellence for his work in inventing and commercializing the hybrid-composite beam, for which he holds four U.S. patents.

URS Corp. has named U.S. Navy Rear Adm. (ret.) Nevin Carr as vice president for surface readiness and future capability. Since retiring from the Navy in 2012, he was a senior advisor at McKinsey & Co. His Navy posts included chief of naval research and deputy assistant secretary for international programs. Carr is based in Norfolk, Va.

Schlesinger

The Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, has named T.E. Schlesinger as dean of the Whiting School of Engineering, effective on Jan. 1. He now is head of the electrical and computer engineering department at Carnegie-Mellon University, a post he has held since 2005.

Schlesinger specializes in research related to heat-assisted magnetic recording, which the university says is seen as next-generation technology for magnetic hard disk drives. Schlesinger will succeed Nicholas P. Jones, who left earlier this year to become executive vice president and provost of Pennsylvania State University. Vice Dean Andrew Douglas is interim dean.

John Newton and Jeffrey M. Peragallo have joined Hill International as vice presidents in its project management group. Newton, based in London, was a partner at EC Harris and CEO of its North American operations. Peragallo, based in New York City, was a director of global capital procurement at Merck & Co. Inc. Hill also says it promoted five to vice president.
