Gina Coelho has joined engineering firm HDR Inc., Omaha, as principal professional associate and marine environmental practice leader. The new role follows the firm's Sept. 4 acquisition of Ecosystem Management & Associates Inc., a Lusby, Md., environmental services firm of which she had been founder and president. Its 17 employees will be integrated into HDR's engineering, construction and environmental operations.

Pennoni Associates, a West Chester, Pa., engineering firm, has named Joe Viscuso as vice president and office director. He also will manage the firm's work related to Marcellus shale. Viscuso formerly is vice president and commercial sector lead for design firm Stantec. He also serves as the municipal engineer for the townships of Aston and Upper Chichester.

 

DESMARIS

Thierry Desmaris has joined CDM Smith, the Cambridge, Mass., design firm, as executive vice president for finance. He had been vice president of corporate development at contractor Foster Wheeler AG, with 25 years of experience there as a senior financial manager. Further, CDM Smith has elevated Eric Hartmann to senior vice president and chief financial officer from corporate controller. Desmaris succeeds Paul Camell, who will retire in April as executive vice president and chief administrative officer after 40 years with the firm. Hartmann succeeds Robert Anton, who retired in August.

Robin Duveen has been promoted to chief operating officer of Gafcon Inc., a San Diego-based construction management firm, replacing Pam Gaffen in that role. She remains president. Duveen is a 14-year veteran of the firm, which ranks at No. 64 on ENR's list of the Top 100 Construction Management-for-Fee firms.

Kris Bauman has joined Sam Schwartz Engineering LLC, a New York City-based transportation engineer, as executive vice president and chief operating officer. He had been president of Bauman Co. LLC, a Newtown, Pa., consultant, as well as senior vice president of development at Gale Real Estate Services Co., Roseland, N.J.

New York City design firm Thornton Tomasetti has named Thomas Duffy a senior vice president. Previously a principal associate at Hardesty & Hanover, Duffy joined the engineer in 1986. Robert L. Honig also has joined Thornton Tomasetti as general counsel. He had been global head of claims for architects and engineers at Beazley Insurance Co., New York City, responsible for the firm's worldwide portfolio of claims against design professionals. Honig also had been a partner at construction law firm Zetlin & De Chiara LLP. Thornton Tomasetti also announces three promotions in its Washington, D.C., office. R. Wayne Stocks becomes managing principal and continues to lead the firm's mid-Atlantic and South region. Mark J. Tamaro is elevated to senior principal and Zachary D. Kates to vice president.

Paul DeKeyser has joined AECOM Technology Corp. as senior vice president and leader of its water practice in North America. He was with CH2M Hill as a business development executive in its energy and chemicals group, responsible for western Canada, and previously as manager of its eastern U.S. water business group.

John van WoenselPaul Skoutelas SANY America Inc., a Peachtree City, Ga.-based construction equipment manufacturer and distributor, has named as chairman. In this newly created position, Frank is responsible for the firm's products in the U.S., Canada, Mexico and Central America. He was, most recently, a consultant to the firm's parent, SANY Group Co. Ltd., based in China. Frank also had been senior vice president of operations strategy at Volvo Construction Equipment.MOCA Systems Inc., a Newton, Mass., construction management firm, has named as president. The company's advisory director since last year, he previously served as senior vice president of Parsons Corp. in the Middle East and as executive vice president and chief development officer for 3D/International prior to its acquisition by Parsons. Boyd also is a member of the Texas A&M School of Architecture Advisory Council. MOCA Systems ranks at No. 75 on ENR's list of the Top 100 CM-for-Fee firms.Parsons Brinckerhoff, New York City, has named as vice president and national aviation planning manager. He returns to the design firm to head its U.S. aviation planning practice. Van Woensel had been vice president and director of airport planning and implementation at CH2M Hill. He remains based in Cincinnati. Van Woensel, who worked at PB from 1988 to 1998, is also a past committee chairman for the Airport Consultants Council. PB also has named to the added role as director of the Technical Excellence Center in its transit and rail practice. A corporate senior vice president, he previously served as CEO of the Port Authority of Allegheny County in Pittsburgh and of the Central Florida Regional Transportation Authority (LYNX) in Orlando.
