Robert S. McNamara has joined developer-builder Lend Lease, Sydney, Australia, as CEO of its New York City-based Americas division. Lend Lease is the parent of Bovis Lend Lease and Actus Lend Lease, both with U.S. units. Since 2006, McNamara was president and CEO of LVI Services Inc., a New York City abatement and demolition firm. LVI is a key subcontractor to Bovis on demolition of the Deutsche Bank building in Manhattan, damaged on Sept. 11, 2001. McNamara, also a former Fluor Corp. senior group president, now directs Lend Lease Americas units involved in development, project management, construction, public-private partnerships and investment management.

Lend Lease also announced other appointments under a global reorganization to take effect on July 1. Based in London, Dan Labbad becomes CEO for the firm’s Europe, Middle East and Africa region. He previously ran Lend Lease’s European development unit. Rod Leaver is the new CEO of Lend Lease Australia, and Eng-Peng Ooi is named CEO of Lend Lease Asia, based in Singapore. Murray Coleman now is global head of project management, design and construction; he was CEO of Bovis Lend Lease UK. Mark Menhinnitt, formerly global CEO of Bovis Lend Lease, becomes global head of PPPs for its parent.

George Rempel has been named senior environmental adviser of engineer and project management firm Stantec Inc., Edmonton, Alberta, following its acquisition of TetrES Consultants Inc., a Winnipeg, Manitoba, environmental management firm, of which he was president. Rempel is based in Winnipeg. About 25 employees joined Stantec as a result of the acquisition.

Langan Engineering & Environmental Services, Elmwood Park, N.J., has elevated Colleen Costello to senior principal, the first woman named to the position. Based in Philadelphia, she joined Langan in 1995 and specializes in directing the firm’s efforts in Superfund, brownfield and other environmental projects.

Stanley L. Chiu has joined architect-engineer RTKL Associates Inc., Baltimore, as a vice president, leading its Los Angeles-based health and science studio. The firm is a unit of Netherlandsbased engineering firm ARCADIS NV. Chiu was vice president of HGA Architects and Engineers.

GUZZI

EMCOR Group Inc., Norwalk, Conn., announced on May 25 that Anthony J. Guzzi, president and chief operating officer, will become CEO, effective on Jan. 3, 2011. He will replace Frank T. MacInnis, who is set to retire after 16 years in that role but will become the contractor’s nonexecutive chairman. Guzzi joined EMCOR in 2004. The company did not announce a successor for his COO position or whether that role will be maintained.

Laurel J. Krzeminski, vice president and corporate controller of Granite Construction Inc., Watsonville, Calif., has been appointed the contractor’s interim chief financial officer, following the resignation of LeAnne M. Stewart, the company announced on May 25. Granite now is searching for a new CFO. Krzeminski served as finance director for the Duracell and Braun North American business units of Procter & Gamble prior to joining Granite in 2008. Granite did not say if Stewart had accepted a new position.

Milford Wayne Donaldson has been appointed by President Obama to head the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation. He is the first architect to lead the 23-member organization that advocates for historic structures threatened by federal construction projects. Donaldson, currently California’s state historic preservation officer, has been appointed to a four-year term.
