The Albert Kahn Family of Companies, a Detroit architect-engineer-planner, has named Charles T. Robinson as president. A 40-year firm veteran, he had been executive vice president.

Khaled T. Husein has joined New York City-based engineer HAKS as vice president in its construction-management division. He had been deputy general manager at SBG/RPD, a Saudi Arabian general contractor, and, prior to that, an executive at URS Corp. for 22 years.

The American Society of Civil Engineers has elected Blaine D. Leonard president. He is an ASCE fellow and a research program manager for the Utah Dept. of Transportation, Salt Lake City. The group also elected Kathy J. Caldwell as esident-elect. She is president of Caldwell Cook and Associates, a Gainesville, Fla., engineer. They will be installed at ASCE’s convention on Oct. 30.

Abernathy
ABERNATHY

Cammy Abernathy has been named dean of the College of Engineering at the University of Florida, Gainesville. She is the first woman in that post. Abernathy replaces Pramod Khargonekar, who joins the faculty in the college’s electrical and computer engineering department. Formerly associate dean for academic affairs, she joined the university in 1993 as a materials science and engineering professor and previously worked at AT&T’s Bell Laboratories, Murray Hill, N.J.

Thomas D. Pellarin has joined Peter R. Brown Construction, Orlando, as vice president of business development. He transitions from an affiliated company, engineering firm PBS&J, where he was transportation senior vice president.

Flowers
FLOWERS

Garry W. Flowers has been named president and CEO of Savannah River Nuclear Solutions, a Fluor Corp.-led team that has managed and operated the U.S. Energy Dept.’s Savannah River Site near Aiken, S.C., since August 2008. He replaces Charles E. Munns, who is retiring. Flowers had been Fluor’s group executive for construction services, health, safety and environmental functions, and corporate security. He joined the contractor in 1978.

Robert E. “Bob” Oglesby has joined architect engineer-contractor Wiser Co. LLC, Murfreesboro, Tenn., as executive vice president. He previously ran his own firm, Everton Oglesby Architects, in Nashville for 18 years.
