Atlanta-based Golder Associates Inc., the U.S. unit of the global engineering firm, has named Mark Swallow president. A 22-year veteran of the company, he was president of Golder Construction Services Inc., a contracting subsidiary formed in 2005. Swallow, who will be based in Jacksonville, Fla., replaces Steve Thompson, who will lead Golder’s acquisition efforts. Gary Young was named to succeed Swalllow as president of the construction unit.
Dennis Dills has joined MAI Architecture Engineering Construction, Melbourne, Fla., as vice president of architectural services. He was principal architect at Stottler Stagg and Associates, Cape Canaveral, Fla.
Harold Thornberry has joined The Shaw Group, Baton Rouge, as vice president for nuclear construction in its power group in Charlotte, N.C. He was manager of power construction for Bechtel Group Inc., where he worked for 35 years.
The Opus Group, a real estate firm in Minneapolis, has named Marshall Burton executive vice president of its Opus East unit in Washington, D.C. He was vice president and general manager of an Opus unit in Denver.

Allen Chin, former regional business director for the Army Corps of Engineers’ northwestern division in Portland, Ore, has joined Pasadena, Calif.-based Parsons Corp. as vice president of the installations and environment division on its joint-venture program support contract for the U.S. Navy in Guam.
Malcolm Pirnie Inc. has promoted Robert S. Belitz to chief financial officer, replacing Daniel R. Shevchik who has retired after almost 40 years with the White Plains, N.Y.- based engineer. He had been the firm’s controller.
BOR-SON Construction has appointed Chris Stewart vice president of operations. He joins the Minneapolis contractor from a former position as director of construction for retailer Target Corp.
New York City-based WB Engineers | Consultants has hired Thomas F. Doherty as principal-in-charge of its new Bethesda, Md., office. He was director of real estate at Verizon for 24 years.
Parametrix, an Auburn, Wash., engineer, has promoted Jeff Peacock to president and CEO. He replaces Gerry Jones, who retired but remains on its board. Peacock was executive vice president.

Miner-Dederick Construction, Houston, promoted Julia Odell to vice president of project management. A 20-year veteran, she was senior project manager. Warner Strang also joined the firm as executive vice president of project management. He was a senior vice president for Parsons Corp. unit 3/D International.
M. J. Harris, a Birmingham, Ala., contractor, has promoted four executives. Robert Young becomes chief operating officer from senior vice president of operations; Robbie Egan is chief financial officer, up from vice president of corporate affairs; Robert Lambe moves to senior vice president of employee relations from vice president of human asset management; and Roy Holland rises to vice president of preconstruction services from chief estimator.
BMW Constructors has promoted Brian Acton, to executive vice president. He will relocate to Indianapolis headquarters on Jan. 1. Replacing him as president of Seattle unit BMWC Construction is Tony Kanaly, a project manager in Munster, Ind.
Engineer-architect Thornton Tomasetti, New York City, promoted W. Steven Hofmeister to senior vice president/principal from vice president, and H. B. Warner, in its Kansas City office, to senior vice president from vice president. In Chicago, Carol Post and Thomas Poulos were also elevated to senior vice president/principal.
