Johnston
JOHNSTON

James K. “Jim” Johnston was elected president of the Engineers’ Leadership Foundation, a not-for-profit group based in Silver Spring, Md., that promotes the concept of engineers becoming leaders in their profession and in society and provides supporting programs and materials. Johnston is president of PMK Group, a Cranford, N.J., environmental and geotechnical consultant that is now part of Birdsall Services Group, Sea Girt, N.J.

Patricia D. Galloway has joined international consulting firm Pegasus Global Holdings Inc., Elum, Wash., as CEO. In that role, she replaces Kris Nielsen, who remains chairman and president. Galloway was CEO of Nielsen-Wurster Group, which was acquired by Marsh USA Inc.

CH2M Hill Cos., Denver, has named Jacqueline Rast president and group CEO for its consulting, engineering, procurement and construction Center of Excellence. She had been senior vice president of business development for CH2M Hill International, a corporate unit. The firm has also named Bob Gonzales senior vice president for human-resources shared services, in charge of global recruiting, compensation and training. Gonzales was vice president of global human-resource operations for Lenovo, a Raleigh, N.C.-based international technology firm. John Mogge also has been promoted to business development and planning director for the firm’s environmental services business group. He had led its Southeast transportation business group.

Skanska USA Building Inc., Parsippany, N.J., has promoted Deborah Ippolito to director of business development in New York City. She had been director of marketing.

Dick Kammann has joined ARCADIS, a Highlands Ranch, Colo.-based engineering firm, as client development manager for mid-Atlantic operations, in Columbia, Md. He was vice president and director of business development for the eastern region of Heery International Inc., Atlanta.

Joseph F. Montalbano has joined Matrix Service Co., a Tulsa industrial services firm, as vice president and chief operating officer. He had been senior vice president and senior project director in the energy sector of Black & Veatch, Kansas City.

Hagerty
HAGERTY

Ellerbe Becket has named Adrian Hagerty managing principal of the firm’s Washington, D.C., office. He had been principal and is a senior project manager for its work on healthcare and government projects. Dennis J. Meyer is named chief marketing officer for the architect-engineer and will be based at its Minneapolis headquarters.

The Opus Group, a national real estate development group headquartered in Minneapolis, has hired Brian Owendoff as vice president and general manager for the Portland, Ore., office of Opus Northwest, one of its units. He was vice president of Duke Realty Corp. Martin McFarland has been promoted to vice president of Opus South, based in Atlanta. R. Duane Wood is named to head the Opus South industrial sector and John Flavin joins the firm as vice president of the Florida region. He was president and CEO of Gates Capital Group, a Naples, Fla., construction and development firm.

Gaffney
GAFFNEY

IAP Worldwide Services Inc., a contractor based in Cape Canaveral, Fla., has elected Steven F. Gaffney chairman and appointed Dale W. Thornton vice president of corporate business development. In that role, Gaffney replaces David L. Myers, who will continue to support IAP’s newest business segment, energy and natural resource services, as a consultant. Gaffney also joins Cerberus Capital, IAP’s majority owner, as an operations director. He previously was president of ITT Defense Electronics & Services. Prior to joining IAP, Thornton was an executive with the government services group of AECOM and firms it had acquired.

Day & Zimmermann has named Ted Daniels president of its Mason & Hanger unit, an architect-engineer-constructor based in Lexington, Ky. He comes to Day & Zimmermann from his own management consulting firm and has held senior positions at Leo A Daly and HNTB Corp.

Philadelphia-based design firm KlingStubbins announces that H. Joseph Wynn has joined its Raleigh, N.C., office as managing director. He is formerly executive associate and director of design for Heery International in Raleigh.

The American Institute for Steel Construction, Chicago, has promoted Charles J. Carter to vice president. He joined the group in 1991 and remains chief structural engineer. Named to a new AISC position is Louis F. Geschwindner, who becomes vice president for special projects. He was vice president for engineering and research.

Nate Kredich has joined U.S. Green Building Council in the newly created role of vice president for residential market development, overseeing its LEED for Homes program. He was an executive with Creative Touch Interiors, a turnkey provider of design-center services to homebuilders. Kredich led the firm’s sale to Home Depot in 2004 and oversaw its integration into the retailer.
