Michael Compton has been elevated to executive vice president of preconstruction for Kaiser Electric Inc., Fenton, Mo. He had been director of design-build for the electrical contractor. Compton has worked for the firm since 2005 and earlier from 1969 to 1983..

Bruce W. Wilkinson, chairman and CEO of Houston-based marine contractor McDermott International Inc., will retire by Dec. 31, the company says. A search for a successor is now under way. Wilkinson has held that position since 2000. McDermott subsidiary J. Ray McDermott also announces that Bruce Crager has joined the firm as vice president for its subsea construction market. He had been president and CEO of INTEC Engineering and an executive at ABB Offshore Systems and Oceaneering International.

HNTB Federal Services Corp., a unit of The HNTB Cos., Kansas City, Mo., has promoted Agnes Otto to vice president and technology practice leader. Since joining in 1998, she has directed teams submitting seven technology patents. Juan Uribe has been promoted to associate vice president. He is the firm’s technical-innovation manager and a technology patent holder.

Michael Baker Corp., Pittsburgh, has promoted Bradley L. Mallory to president and CEO and to its board. He was chief operating officer. Mallory succeeds Richard L. Shaw as CEO, but Shaw remains board and executive committee chairman. Michael Ryan is also named vice president of transportation, in Harrisburg, Pa. He was vice president of H.W. Lochner Inc. and deputy secretary for highway administration at the Pennsylvania Dept. of Transportation.

STV Inc., New York City, has named two new vice presidents. Timothy J. Mason now manages operations for the central region of its construction management division, based in Douglassville, Pa. He was president of Mason Associates LLC, a boutique construction-management firm, and construction deputy at URS Corp. Mark A. Peterson joins STV’s transportation and infrastructure group in Los Angeles, responsible for West Coast transportation facility operations. He was vice president of Hanson-Wilson Inc. STV also promoted these executives to senior vice president: Wagi Andraos, Majid Hedayti, Judith Held and Stuart Rothenberger; and these to vice president: Samara Barend, Ashraf Basta, Martin Boyle, Lori Burnley, Peter Dewes, Bruce Jabbonsky, Dennis Nazzaro, Nadine Roper, Dennis Sheppard and Jeffrey Sueck.

Black & Veatch, Overland Park, Kan., has promoted Jim Hengel to senior vice president and senior project director in its energy business unit. Mark Amick was named vice president and sales director for the Americas region, also in energy. He was business-development manager for the firm’s air-quality control systems business line.

The Engineering Co. (TEC), Fort Collins, Colo., has elevated Brian Zick to president. He had served as vice president since 1998 and also guides the firm’s work in stormwater management and directs its GIS efforts.

BDS Steel Detailers, an international steel detailing company based in Brisbane, Australia, has named Don T. Engler managing director, based in Tempe, Ariz. He had been vice president of international operations.

Charles R. Weeks has been named vice president of safety and human resources at Fru-Con Construction Corp., Ballwin, Mo. He has led its human resources group since 2000 and manages the philanthropic Fru-Con Foundation Trust Fund.

SULLIVAN
SULLIVAN

Anne T. Sullivan has joined Thornton Tomasetti Inc., a New York City-based engineering firm, as vice president. She will establish a historic preservation practice sector in Chicago. Sullivan was a senior associate with Johnson Lasky Architects and has taught historic building technology at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She also is vice president of the Association for Preservation Technology International.

D. Vincent Weiser has been elevated to chief operating officer of design firm Erdman Anthony, Rochester, N.Y. The firm also named five new team leaders for key segments in civil engineering, geospatial services, facilities design, transportation and construction services.

KYLES

O’Brien & Gere, an East Syracuse, N.Y., engineering firm, has hired James H. Kyles as a vice president in its Buffalo, N.Y., office. He had been a senior vice president at Parsons Corp. Kyles will focus on the firm’s environmental market expansion in the Northeast, particularly western New York.

Associated Builders and Contractors, Arlington, Va., has named Todd S. Mann chief operating officer. He had been senior vice president of business development for the National Restaurant Association and was president and CEO of two Web-based firms in Atlanta offering educational programming for the heating, ventilation and air-conditioning industry.

WERFEL
WERFEL

KlingStubbins, a Philadelphia architecture and planning firm, has hired Bruce Werfel as chief architect in its Washington, D.C., office. He formerly worked for CUH2A as a manager of architecture and senior associate. Werfel specializes in design of laboratories, research facilities and other high-technology structures.

Michael M. Rafi has joined CONTECH Construction Products Inc., a West Chester, Ohio-based supplier, as senior vice president and chief administrative and development officer. He had been vice president at Oshkosh Corp. and general manager of the Caterpillar Alliance Group.
