William J. Postner, a noted construction attorney and author, died Dec. 27, 2007, from complications of lung cancer. He was 69. Postner was of counsel to the construction group at Schiff Hardin LLC, Chicago. Before joining that firm in 2006, he was a partner at New York City-based Postner & Rubin, which he co-founded in 1980. Specializing in such issues as contracting, claims, liability, insurance and dispute resolution in the construction industry, Postner was also a frequent university and industry lecturer and board member of the American College of Construction Lawyers. "Bill followed an exceedingly high standard in the practice of law," says his former partner, Robert E. Rubin, now of counsel to Newark-based McCarter & English. "He pursued each matter with the same meticulous attention, regardless of its size or the ability of the client to pay. By example, Bill set the standard to which we all aspired."
