Gail Vittori, of the Center for Maximum Potential Building Systems, was the sustainability consultant to the architects of the new Dell Children's Medical Center of Central Texas project in Austin, scheduled for completion this spring. The $200-million medical center on 32 acres of the former Austin airport site is a likely candidate to be the nation's first hospital to achieve platinum LEED certification.

At the Center for Maximum Potential Building Systems, a non-profit sustainable planning and design firm established in 1975 in Austin, Vittori is currently engaged with several municipal, state and federal initiatives regarding sustainable development, design and materials strategies. She is a co-coordinator of the Green Guide for Health Care as well as chair of the U.S. Green Building Council's LEED Application Guide for Healthcare committee.
