Wind tunnel tests are at long last standardized, thanks in great part to the leadership of Jon Peterka, a vice president of wind tunnel laboratory Cermak Peterka Petersen Inc., Fort Collins, Colo. The American Society of Civil Engineers' standard, in development for a dozen years and to be published this year, will provide a basis for evaluating whether a wind tunnel test on buildings and other structures has been performed in accordance with recognized and generally accepted procedures. The expectation is that the standard will be adopted by reference into the building codes.
