Working with State Dept.
In reference to your article, "Global U.S. Building Program Adapts to New Pressures", The Associated General Contractors of America would like to provide an update that highlights the fact that we remain firmly engaged in a productive dialogue with the U.S. Department of State.
The AGC/OBO joint task force has met several times this year, most recently on Oct. 12, 2006. There was a significant recognition that each of these embassy projects is unique and there is a critical role that OBO plays in obtaining important approvals that allow contractors to adhere to OBO policy and meet deadlines.
We will continue to discuss ways to improve and clarify OBO's internal processes during this challenging time. We also will continue to actively participate as a charter member in the important OBO Industry Advisory Panel, constituted in 2001. We highly value our interaction with OBO and we will continue to collaborate in ways that will ensure the embassy construction program will meet the needs of the U.S. diplomatic mission in a manner that is equitable for all parties participating in the program.
