A company whose specialty
is Web-based distribution of engineering documents has come
out with a wireless access module designed for handheld computers.
PocketDocs, from eQuorum, Atlanta,
lets handheld PC users access, view, markup and print documents
stored in eQuorum's ImageSite data storage facility. Drawings
can be panned and zoomed, but only the viewed parts of the
images are transmitted, minimizing wait time. Handhelds also
can link by modem or digital cell phone.
The $7,500 module costs more than
the $7,225 base price of ImageSite. Free, full-function, 10-meg
trial sites are available at www.equorum.com.
